Cape Town - The purpose of the Senior Portfolio Manager role is to provide support for the Head of Private Debt, in raising new investors for the private debt funds and sourcing and structuring new investments.

It further requires portfolio management, risk management and portfolio strategy knowledge and skills. Key Responsibilities : Raising new capital and report backs to existing investors : Present the funds to potential investors Provide feedback on funds’ performance Engage with investors on a regular basis Deal origination : Sourcing of transactions Developing intermediary relationships Maintaining client and counterparty relationships Represent our client in all required client interaction Drive and provide input to portfolio strategy Advance research efforts and improve overall quality and coverage Qualitative and quantitative review and analysis of new opportunities for current and potential counterparties, including company due diligence and valuations Financial modelling / structuring of unlisted transactions Legal review and negotiation of unlisted finance documents Implementation : Implementation of unlisted transactions Monitoring : Post execution monitoring of unlisted transactions, including annual and semi-annual valuations Live according to our client’s values : Deal with people, internal as well as external, as partners, with respect, an open mind and in fairness Contribute positively and be solutions orientated Collaborate and provide input to the broader investment team Build networks within the Alternative Investments business, our client, our client’s Group and externally Minimum requirements : Relevant Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Science, Actuarial University Degree Relevant Postgraduate qualification CA (SA), CFA, MBA would be advantageous 8-12 years’ experience in unlisted credit Demonstrated excellence in the field of unlisted credit Experience working in leadership role and managing teams Core Competencies : Positive and enthusiastic creating a relationship of trust and open communication with our investors and investees Cultivates Innovation creating new and better ways for the organisation to be successful and structuring transactions to mitigate risk Client focus building strong client relationships and delivering client centric solutions Drives results consistently seizing opportunities and achieving results even under tough circumstances Collaborates building partnerships and working collaboratively and inclusively with others to meet shared objectives Being Resilient rebounding from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations Behavioural Competencies : Business insight applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organisation’s goals Financial acumen interpreting and applying understanding of financial indicators to make better business decisions Decision quality making good and timely decisions that keep the organisation moving forward Action orientated taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy and enthusiasm Communicates effectively developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of audiences Attention to detail high degree of accuracy and meticulousness when approaching work Manages complexity making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems People orientated exhibit high levels of people skills and communication and be a team player Technical Competencies : Asset management - management and monitoring of financial assets and performance Stakeholder management - anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders including investors, investees, colleagues, employees, and others Global markets and competitor analysis - stay abreast of the competitive landscape to manage and change business strategy.

Monitor the global and local business environment to make sound and optimal decisions Risk management - analyse risks and manage it with both new and existing transactions and funds
