Responsible for checking, planning, organizing and coordinating with other engineering and design disciplines the design effort of a project.
Perform calculations, checking and design reviews as required. Will be required to utilize new and existing orthographic and Isometric data.
Experience in construction engineering support activities with a good understanding of equipment maintenance.
The candidate should demonstrate a sound knowledge in the following areasAble to work independently with designers and engineers on various projects Piping routing and placement of valves and instruments.
Checking of piping isometrics in accordance with the piping specification.Checking of piping G.A’s.Checking of mechanical G.
A’s and detailsChecking of shop fabrication drawings.Checking of structural Layouts / G.A’s and shop fabrication details.
Adhere to drawing office standards and procedures.
Check drawings accurately according to the requirements specified by the Client.
Discuss optional design possibilities with Project section leader and Project Manager.
Resolves equipment design conflicts.
Co-ordinates with estimating, engineering and the fabrication vendors to achieve customer schedules and cost objectives are met.
Identify scope changes during a given task cycle with the ability to measure its impact upon current tasks
Maintain task status communication with project staff and management
Works directly with project designers, project engineers.
Must comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ensures project files, engineering records are properly maintained.
Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the capabilities of the equipment and produces highly cost effective and production friendly component designs.
Proficient in AutoCAD 3 D and 2 D (Essential), Navisworks, Excel, Outlook
Min 5, preferably 10 years' experience.
Previous detailed piping design experience (Desirable)
Self-motivated, ability to work under general supervision; close attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks.
Must be able to work under pressure.
Good organizational and planning skills.
Full understanding of the Drawing Office Quality Plan / Drawing office procedures.
Clear and concise verbal and written communications
Coordinate with others to accomplish objectives.
Builds positive working relationships.
Complete work timeously in a professional manner
Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
Overtime as required
NQF level 4 CAD drawing
National Diploma desirable
10+ years CAD design experience in process related projects
Fully proficient in AutoCAD and Plant 3D
