Our client is seeking to employee a Purchasing Manager - Logistics Department

Requirements :

  • Grade 12 / Std. 10
  • National Diploma Purchasing Management
  • Minimum 5 years experience in similar role
  • Supervisory experience
  • Previous Foundry experience
  • Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Develops a purchasing strategy.
  • Reviews and processes purchase orders.
  • Manages other members of the purchasing team.
  • Maintains records of goods ordered and received.
  • Negotiates prices and contracts with suppliers.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with vendors.
  • Selects prospective vendors and negotiates contracts.
  • Evaluates vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price.
  • Schedules deliveries and ensures timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Researches and evaluates vendors to compare pricing and services.
  • Coordinates with fellow managers to monitor inventory and determine supply needs.
  • Ensures quality of procured items and addresses problems when they arise.
  • Keeps up with trends in procurement.
  • Travels to vendor locations.
  • Stays current with purchasing technology trends and oversees purchase and implementation, as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain all policies and procedures relating to inventory, tendering and purchasing
  • Vetting requisitions
  • Raising and placing purchase orders
  • Maintaining the ERP data base
  • Ensure all personnel are present, if not, arrange for replacements.
  • Ensure compliance with disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Assist as requested in the formulation of departmental budget / forecast and to ensure that budgeted levels of costs are not exceeded.
  • Cost saving projects
  • Ensure computer data is captured timeously
  • Manage all stock levels
  • Preparation of monthly Exco report
  • Processing of PR’s for finance
  • Maintain accurate records for accounting, audit and reference purposes
  • Problem solving and corrective actions
  • Any other reasonable duties as assigned from time to time
