An exciting opportunity exists for a Market Development Manager to join our team in Johannesburg. The main purpose of this role is to identify, manage and grow new business opportunities, projects and partnerships in order to enhance and develop the business by expanding the business’ commercial footprint, with a primary focus on Product Incubation pilot products.

The Market Development Manager reports directly to the Head of Product Incubation. This position is responsible for developing new business opportunities and managing partner relationships.

The Market Development Manager is required to provide strategic and operational focus to specific projects. They provide support and assistance to the Head of Product Incubation on various Product Incubation projects.

Internal Liaison takes place across internal departments and extensively with the Product Incubation team. External liaison takes place with partners, regulators and service providers.

Duties and Responsibilities (Include but is not limited to) : Develop and maximise growth in Product Incubation pilot products and market Contribute to development of Product Incubation pilot products across current and new markets for Mukuru in Africa Drive pilot product sales to big business / new business development Create strategies to maximise the pilot product profits in sustainable way Carry out market analysis and monitoring of micro and macro influences Conduct competitor analysis as well as gap analysis Develop people, processes and the tech solutions for pilot product offerings Drive business development across the Mukuru networkIdentify opportunities to expand product and service offerings Ensure opportunities are strategically and legally viable Collaborate with in-country representatives with regards to projects and partnerships Make contacts in order to develop prospects and leads with various potential partners Negotiate with potential partners in order to obtain mutually beneficial signed contractsEffectively manage the relationships with current partnersActively engage with partners to ensure partner health improvement Ensure the retention of quality partnerships Grow the relationship by expanding the partner service offerings and partner Touches Identify ways to grow partner revenue (i.

e. contract extension, partnership expansion) Identify ways to maximise profit with partners Manage concentration riskProvide support and assistance to the Head of Product IncubationProvide assistance to the Head of Product Incubation on required incubation projects Provide support and attend meetings when necessary Provide strategic input when requiredMaintain current knowledge of payments and financial innovation practices and activities in business corridorsManage own professional and self-developmentKey Requirements : Grade 12 / or equivalent (Essential) Degree in any business related field (Essential)8 years’ experience in Business Development (Essential) In the remittance / FinTech industry (Desirable) Experience in negotiating with financial services partners (Desirable) Experience / exposure to working in African countries (Desirable) Knowledge of payments and remittances Knowledge of software development Knowledge of business to-business sales and proposal writing Knowledge of commercial agreements Knowledge of software capabilities Knowledge of operating license requirements Additional Skills : Multitasking skills Computer skills Verbal communication skills Time management skills Organisational & administrative skills Conflict management skills Attention to detail Interpersonal skills Analytical skills Self motivated Negotiation skills Remote working skillsShould you be appointed in a remote / work from home role at Mukuru, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have uninterrupted internet connectivity and a work-like’ environment at your home location, in order to deliver your best in terms of performance, productivity and service to our customers.
