Introduction We are currently recruiting for a Shift Artisan Mechanical to join our dynamic team. Job Purpose The major purpose of the Artisan is to ensure that the plant and equipment perform at the optimal levels of efficiency using P.

M / Scheduling and continuous improvement and to make sure it’s maintained at a high level by meeting the daily Production Plan Scope It is essential that the Production lines are performing at high levels in terms of OEE and Quality.

This Role also has the responsibility of ensuring that proposals for relevant equipment is updated, replaced or modified to meet the operations requirements.

This includes ensuring that SMED principles are utilised and that a preventative maintenance programme is implemented and carried out to ensure the reliability and efficiency of equipment.

The Artisan also has the responsibility to ensure that key skills in the operation and minor maintenance of the plant and equipment are passed on to line operators and manufacturing personnel.

The role also has the responsibility of monitoring and recording of key performance indicators (KPI’s) for wastage, variances labour efficacy, OEE’s and any non-conformance, and ensuring that these are kept up to date.

Key Performance Areas Lead continuous improvement projects related to line performance and manufacturing performance. Lead SMED (Single minute of change of dyes) principles and practice.

Be accountable for overall equipment effectiveness and related KPI’s. Accountable for the maintenance of scheduled maintenance as well as shut maintenance.

Lead total preventative maintenance concepts and programmes. Set standards and ensure maintenance is being done efficiently and effectively.

Responsible for spares inventory control. Develop and maintain safety standards according to the health and safety Act. As a member of the Maintenance Team, supports the continuous improvement and growth of Team.

Analyse and carries out any actions related to machine logs. Play active role in root cause analysis Key Challenges Continuous improving against OEE objectives Understands and implements the principles of rapid changeovers SMED.

Training- transferring knowledge and skills of maintenance minor. Instilling the culture and mind-set of Maintenance. Equipment reliability.

Maintaining a high OEE level and equipment reliability to achieve Customer service levels of 98% plus Minimum Requirements Skills & Experience 3 to 5 years post qualification in a FMCG environment on high speed packaging and processing equipment preferably in an aerosol environment.

Report writing Able to facilitate and present at meetings. Able to undertake responsibility for area of operation. Worked and has knowledge of hazarder’s locations and materials.

Quality awareness. GMP TPM. Computer literate Good communication skills Facilitate and lead continuous improvement Fault analyses and diagnostic skills Able to train and pass on knowledge to minor Technical / professional qualifications N3 qualification with minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Artisan in plant maintenance, preferably in a FMCG environment.
