MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION To effectively co-ordinate operational staff within the Final Control Centre, and manage playout and system issues related to the daily broadcast of the Channel’s content for all assigned channels and services.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES : Supervise the unit inputs and outputs to ensure maximum efficiencies and regularly report progress.
Oversee the implementation of the unit plans. Report on the achievement of the unit objectives (Monthly). Ensure effective and efficient co-ordination of activities.
Work closely with all Stakeholders; programming, marketing, on-air and air time sales to ensure accuracy of scheduling information and effective communication of changes.
Implement and monitor effective workflows within department to ensure maximum productivity and accurate output. Utilisation and training of the Systems.
Ensure and monitor that necessary reports are produced as required (such as outstanding material, Programme start times when late, sales overruns, On- Air fault reports, etc.
Coordinate and oversee broadcasts, special broadcast and late schedule changes. Communicate with stakeholders to efficiently eliminate / reduce On Air faults Effectively support and give input and implement Disaster Recovery Plan.
Oversee and guide staff in emergency programming and broadcast plans. Manage the business unit operating budget in such a manner as to ensure cost containment.
Monitor and report on the operational risk and compliance matters. Implement and deliver on Video Entertainment policies and procedures.
Develop and ensure compliance with the unit SOP. Ensure all scheduling related complaints from BCCSA are responded to timeously Monitor Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Administer Shift rosters and Schedule FCC Producers according to BCEA & SABC Time Management Principles. Reconciliation and prepare claims of FCC Producers.
Process Freelance claims. Follow up, distribute of daily transmission reports and file in Electronic Archives. Ensure mutually beneficial relationships are developed and maintained with internal suppliers and external stakeholders.
Stakeholder queries / complaints resolved in accordance with service standards requirements. Liaise with Airtime Sales to ensure schedule priorities are not compromised and maintaining an appropriate balance to ensure revenues are not negatively impacted.
Advise clients and stakeholders on technical specifications and standards as required by the broadcasting system. Ensure that the SLA with Henley is implemented and executed as agreed.
Attend technical meetings, workshops, conferences and exhibitions as and when required by Channel and business. Attend all relevant business and operational meetings and workshops.
Contract and Manage Performance Management System of the team / s in accordance with organizational policy and procedures.
Ensure adequate staffing for workload, succession planning and effective leadership. Effective briefing and communication with department staff.
Career Development Plans (CDP) for all staff members. Provide direction on the retention and attraction of staff. Manage the employee relations to ensure conducive and productive working environment.
Oversee the implementation of organisational development initiative i.e. Wellness, Employment Equity, Career Progression, Talent, Human Capital Planning etc.
REQUIREMENTS : National Diploma or Degree Broadcasting / Technical or equivalent qualification 5 years’ experience in TV Broadcasting environment Good knowledge of Broadcasting & Television and relevant standards.
Broad knowledge of BCCSA and FPB Regulations. Good knowledge of the broadcast value chain. Broad knowledge of Basic conditions of Employment Act and Time Management.
