Key Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and supporting various middleware technologies and ensuring their performance, availability and security as a member of the Life Infrastructure Application team.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

Day to day maintenance of the Middleware environments

Responsible for ensuring availability and performance

To proactively monitor the systems to ensure minimum downtime

Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the solutions, including upgrades

Responsible for implementation and release of middleware related changes

Middleware capacity management

General middleware troubleshooting

Implementation of Discovery standards and procedures

Life Infrastructure standby and shift duties

Ability to work both independently and participate as a member of a cross-functional team.

Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Essential Technical Competencies

Proven JBOSS Application Server experience

Experience in configuration and release automation

Experience in managing multiple middleware solutions on large systems

Experience in monitoring and tuning middleware solutions

Automation methodologies ( Linux shell scripting, perl, jenkins , ansible)

Preferred Technical Competencies

Middleware skills in addition to JBOSS EAP / WildFly, i.e Tibco BW, Tibco EMS, Apache, IBM MQ

Advanced troubleshooting skills

Education and Experience

Qualifications :

Matric (Essential)

BSc Computer Sciences / Information Systems or equivalent tertiary qualification (Preferable)

ITIL (Preferable)

Experience :

3 to 5 years IT environment experience in Applications Systems Support or relevant Systems Administration experience (Preferable)

2 years relevant JBOSS Application Server experience (Essential)

Dynatrace APM Experience (Preferable)
