Cowan South Africa is recruiting a Komatsu Maintenance Supervisor (Heavy Earthmoving Equipment), for a well-known open pit mining contractor.
The incumbent will play a vital role with maintenance repairs, servicing, allocation of equipment and the general well-being of the Komatsu HME fleet (or sections of it) to ensure that breakdowns don’t impact on mining production.
Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble and service all Komatsu Heavy Earthmoving Equipment as assigned by the relevant Manager
Document machine information and repairs completed on Job Cards and is responsible for submitting accurate Daily Reports and other required paperwork
Maintain technical and product knowledge on all Machines and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set
Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook
Maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
Participate in all company / location driven communication efforts, including toolbox talks’, safety meetings and other related efforts
Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of the company
Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Currently or recently employed in a similar role

Willing to work on a Single Status Fly In / Fly Out Basis
Proficient with computers and Windows / Excel software
Able to work independently and under pressure
Willing to train junior staff and transfer skills
Qualified and Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Earthmoving Mechanic, or similar
Technical training courses completed on Komatsu Heavy Earthmoving Equipment
5 - 8 years’ working experience in the Mobile Mining Maintenance / Heavy Earthmoving Equipment Industry
At least 3 year’s direct and hands-on maintenance experience on Komatsu Heavy Earthmoving Equipment (Dump Trucks, Excavators, etc.)
Previous / current African expatriate experience will be very advantageous
Valid Driver’s License
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
Solid problem-solving skills
