A global chemical manufacturing organisation is looking for a General Manager / MD to manage their South African operations based in JHB.
Requirements include a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or similar, preferable MSc, a management degree (MBA / MBL) and at least 15 years experience in the chemical industry and a minimum of 5 years at Managing Director / Executive level in chemical manufacturing, which of course includes developing and implementing strategies and policies, ensuring operational excellence, overseeing all aspects of the operation including production and process, maintenance, procurement, quality assurance, human resources, industrial relations, logistics, facility management.
You will prepare annual budgets for the operation, liaise with the relevant departments on optimisation of site performance, new business opportunities, and define future manufacturing capabilities, collaborate with unions, ensure regulatory requirements are met, and SHEQ standards are adhered to.
Financial control you must be able to understand and create financial statements, and make decisions of major financial implications to the company.
