Degree in a surveying science, land surveying, marine or nautical science, BSc and MSc degree in hydrography, will be advantage Ability in mathematics, computing, nautical and surveying experience in highly valued Previous offshore experience is preferable Knowledge in Kongsberg, Qinsy and Hypack software environment will be an advantage Between 2 / 5 years experience in satellite and underwater positioning.
Valid Passport required Valid Police Clearance Job Specs : The hydrographic surveyors specialise in precise positioning, data acquisition and processing in marine environment.
He is expected to work in a range of different situation and application mainly offshore, spending the time contract on board a Survey, Exploration and or Mining vessel.
Tasks carried out can vary depending on the specific working situation and shall be but not limited to the following : Using specialised technical software and equipment including satellite and underwater acoustic positioning systems, sonar, multibeam echo sounder, depth sensor and optical gyrocompass equipped on a remotely operated underwater vehicle to provide real time data and visual information to the pilots.
Operating specialised technical software and geographical information system (GIS) to manage the integration, processing and representation of data to Geological department.
Providing accurate and reliable information for vessel navigation and anchoring movements. Maintain all navigational equipment including troubleshooting faults such as electrical dispersion, optical fibre and serial communication.
Working in a variety of different situation including brake down and repairs, being able to mount and dismount all equipment, following maintenance schedules.
Operating on line for monitoring and supervising the navigational software performances from a dedicated control room. Producing daily and monthly reports.
Responding to technical queries from on-board engineering teams and problem solving for colleagues working offshore. Working as part of a team of technical specialists with a daily schedule shift of 12 hours continuous.
