The main purpose of the job is to Support and lead introductions of new products / variants in Production and Customer Adaptation (CA), i.
e. customer unique solutions.
Reporting : This position reports to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager.
Job Objectives :
Support and lead introductions of new products / variants in Durban plant.
Propose, investigate and introduce new tools and equipment.
Prepare and update assembly instructions.
Conduct workload analyses and prepare assembly station manning.
Support assembly in problem solving to find and establish solutions.
Propose and introduce continual improvements in assembly process in line with Volvo Group strategies, benchmarks (internal & external) and industry standards.
Initiate and prepare business cases for changes and improvements.
All job done according lean manufacturing principles and in close cooperation with Volvo Truck central organization in South Africa and Europe.
Being part of engineering team in Durban plant also means to support colleagues in other areas.
Production / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering Degree and / or relevant qualification.
A minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience in a similar position.
Avix system tool analysis or similar.
MS Office experience.
CAD will be an added advantage.
