A brand new exciting job opportunity has become available for a Risk & Compliance Manager in Johannesburg to manage and provide key support in relation to the effective delivery of the compliance program and regulatory requirements for a professional trustee company which provides trustee services for occupational pension schemes.

Working closely across the wider group senior management, this is an ideal job opportunity for a Pension / trustee professional currently in a similar position or looking to move in to a more compliance based career.

The successful Risk and Compliance Manager in Johannesburg will have a great opportunity to manage a team while testing themselves in a new role and will have the possibility of fast progression through the wider group

Your job responsibilities as the Risk & Compliance Manager in Johannesburg will include :

  • Responsible for ensuring the company is in compliance with the Pensions Act and general Trust Law
  • Develop and oversee a control systems and improve the framework as and when required
  • Revise procedures to identify hidden risks taken a proactive approach
  • Modify company policies for board approval and implement same
  • Review the work of the company’s operations to identify compliance issues and provide advice and training where required
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments building or growing on a strong regulatory and industry network
  • Prepare reports for the board and external regulatory bodies as appropriate
  • Requirements for this Risk and Compliance Manager job opportunity in Johannesburg :

  • Five+ years’ experience in financial services / trustee compliance industry with strong technical understanding of regulatory environment
  • Experience as a Compliance Manager / Officer with an excellent knowledge of pension schemes / trusteeship standards and regulations
  • Ability to apply legislation and regulations to the business and an ability to interpret regulatory changes and know when it is necessary to get legal advice
  • Risk assessment capabilities with attention to detail
  • Highly-organised and self-motivated individual with ability to prioritise effectively and work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and report-writing skills to all levels within the company
