Preferably EE candidates Main job function The Environmental Manager carries out the implementation of the Company’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) across all workstreams, with a particular focus on environmental management.
Ensures that environmental risks and impacts are properly and systematically avoided, assessed, managed, and monitored and that improvement is continuously driven and built into company performance.
This includes ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, codes, standards and guidelines, in alignment with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards.
The role covers environmental input into business and project development and acquisition in South Africa as well as across Africa, environmental permitting, project management of selected and approved projects, including the environmental management of construction and operational projects.
An important feature of this position is the management of the company’s biodiversity programmes that seek to ensure no net loss in avifauna at wind projects, and where possible and required, to achieve net gain through working with external stakeholders to achieve offsite conservation measures.
QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management ESMS implementation & auditing qualification EXPERIENCE : 6-10 years working in the environmental sector Minimum of 5 years in the renewable energy sector where such experience has been obtained during the construction and operations phases or as an environmental consultant in the renewable sector.
Extensive knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, legislative requirements and the EIA process Competence in Word, Excel and Power Point
