MAIN JOB PURPOSE : Contribute as part of the site leadership team and role model desired behaviors and Unilever values. Lead strategy decisions and governance functions across a cluster of semi-

autonomous teams for all shifts. Establishes and promotes a total quality system that effectively produces quality products in a safe and efficient manner aligned across SOP’s.

Drives and supports continuous improvement initiatives and positions business unit to meet total objectives and growth. JOB SUMMARY :

  • Management, leadership, coaching, guidance and support across performance deliverables, monitoring, overtime allocation, work patterns and dispute resolution
  • Analyse production data and initiate strategic recommendations
  • Undertakes all non-specialised maintenance across the cluster
  • Detailed knowledge of the end to end manufacturing processes across the operation and endorsed Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Input across CAPEX projects and WCM-leads the AM Pillar or activities within the Pillar
  • Implements WCM principles to improve PQCDSMI (Production, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale, Innovation) to deliver against set Factory targets
  • Quality Ensures that quality standards are implemented and adhered to
  • Safety Implement recommendations from SHE. Ensures responsible management of SHE and collaborating across the SHE Teams as Subject Matter Experts
  • Environment Reduce costs due to waste and minimise impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials
  • Leadership - Promote the development of a highly effective team through the establishment of a positive team climate supported by authentic leadership and clear communication.
  • Monitor and ensures adherence to Company standards and SOP’s

  • Reporting daily and weekly progress across executive management
  • Overseeing maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure plant availability
  • Establishing manufacturing improvements to ensure production and process outputs are increased
  • Ensuring KPI’s targets are met and correctly recorded for production and processing
  • Coach, mentor and counsel employees to ensure agreed performance standards are met and drives a cost-conscious culture
  • Assessing performance of staff by maintaining formal performance review documentation, developing a training and development plan to ensure employees are satisfactorily trained and competent to function correctly and safely across their duties, and ensuring goals and objectives are communicated and reviewed to motivate, develop and retain
  • Managing installation of new equipment and production systems in the plant
  • Reviewing spares holdings and ensuring correct stock holding is in place
  • Researching new technologies available
  • Ensuring customer service levels are met and maintained
  • Ensuring departmental budget is monitored, controlled and reduced where possible
  • Planning, preparing and day-to-day monitoring of the financial budget
  • Measuring operational performance of key productivity indicators on an ongoing basis providing coaching and corrective measures as required
  • Ensuring that formal process controls are in place and changes are systematically implemented
  • Ensuring internal audits are carried out and corrective actions carried out in a timely basis
  • Effective resource planning across operations
  • KEY REQUIREMENTS :

  • BTech / Degree in Engineering either Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical or Electrical preferred
  • Management Diploma OR registered management programme / UMDP typically covering leadership and managing change, human resources management, organisations and behaviour, business strategy and decision making
  • Must have 5 years management / supervisory and leadership working knowledge and experience in FMCG / Manufacturing within a unionized environment
  • Must have budget management experience
  • Must have CAPEX projects, Leadership, Quality, Safety, Environment and Change Management experience
  • Practical working knowledge and experience applying preventative maintenance and autonomous maintenance strategies within a manufacturing, general engineering or food technology environment
  • Must be able to analyse factory and technical processes to identify opportunities for performance improvement
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, supportive, challenging skills are essential
  • WCM / TPM pillar experience will be an advantage
  • Must have Industrial Relations and broad HR experience
