What will you do in this role?

As the Narrative department, we create engaging experiences through writing. We hook an audience and reel them in. Our strength is our ability to disseminate knowledge by interpreting and simplifying information into narratives driven by compelling concepts that reach across human experience.

We're agile; crafting outstanding copy and concepts across a range of industry verticals, for a range of clients, in a range of formats.

We're strategic, writing according to how people consume content. We are a critical and dynamic part of a rapidly evolving and scaling business.

Purpose of Role :

The Writer applies a carefully considered balance of logic, creativity and simplicity to produce learning material (in scripts for video lessons and other formats) that is measurably effective accurate, engaging and efficient.

The Writer structures and interprets content to align with the strategy and concept determined for a given project; the material produced encourages learners to actively process and emotionally respond instead of receiving information passively.

Key Task & Responsibilities

Creative Design

  • Interpret project briefs in an expert manner to develop a strategic writing approach
  • Grasp audience profiles quickly and thoroughly, and help develop a concept, tone and style that is completely in line with a target audience
  • Bring to brainstorming and writing sessions a solid understanding of effective teaching, as well as a skillset that ranges comfortably between classic literary technique and the powerful disruption of modern media from cinema to social networks
  • Collaborate with Instructional Designers to sort and logically structure content briefed into Writing and ensure it becomes accurate and powerful teaching
  • World-class Writing

  • Distil, and structure stories around, major learning insights to facilitate efficient and effective learning
  • Find a balance between lean copy and elegant writing that is shaped to the final output voiceover or text on screen.
  • Collaborate with Lead Creatives, Videographers, Designers, Animators and Video Editors to produce innovative copy in line with a project’s creative strategy
  • Edit and proofread scripts and other creative content to produce immaculate copy
  • Consistent, Quality Delivery

  • Assume a content-expert role in production or post-production when necessary, to ensure accurate footage is filmed
  • Brief, direct and review voiceover recording to give clarity, character and consistency to script delivery
  • Create and refine AI synthetic voiceovers where required
  • Review video and other content edits to portray the story you want while ensuring accuracy and continuity
  • Conduct the course sign-off process for Writers
  • Targets

    Work to deadlines and budget requirements

    Skills / Competencies

  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Able to measure and balance the need for logic and creativity in problem solving at every point in course creation.
  • Able to collaborate and negotiate with team members to ensure a course is the best it could be.
  • Proactive time-management can set and manage own deadlines within a collaborative workflow.
  • Adept at working in an agile environment using new technology and platforms.
  • A proficient Mac user
  • Minimum experience

  • Three to five years experience in the role of a Journalist, Copywriter or similar.
  • A portfolio of notable published work, available for viewing.
  • Experience in creating copy for training purposes would be beneficial.
  • Minimum qualifations

  • Degree or diploma in advertising, marketing, English, media or journalism
