TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs.

To provide a comprehensive mobile health service by offering HIV testing and counselling linked to screening for TB and STIs.
To provide treatment and clinical care to people living with HIV, especially sex workers, and ensure successful linkage to care and adherence.
To provide and manage HIV prevention services to sex workers, including PrEP.
Minimum requirements :
Diploma / Bachelor's degree in nursing
SANC registered as a professional nurse
NIMART certified and experience in ART management
Valid dispensing licence
Minimum 2 year’s experience in HIV counselling and testing in public health services
Ability to communicate in English and another South African language
Intermediate level computer literacy (Excel)
Valid code 08 driver's licence
Key performance areas :
Coordinate and conduct mobile outreach services and HST services in the community and at indoor and outdoor sex work locations
Lead outreach plans to sex work community to ensure data is submitted to DOH on number of clients seen at sex work locations
Mobilise with team to provide key population prevention services and distribute IEC material
Work with the peer educators to mobilise sex workers to understand the importance of knowing their HIV status and access HIV testing services.
Provide an enhanced appropriate package of treatment, care and support for clients diagnosed with HIV, TB, STIs, provide PrEP and attend to other health-related conditions
Monitor and order monthly stock of medications needed for wellness and HTS activities, avoid stock outs
Keep accurate record of stock
Conduct physical examination and take a history of clients
Provide ART and PrEP initiations and continuum of care services
Provide appropriate syndromic management of STIs, fertility planning and other health-related conditions
Keep records of medication dispensed
Provide HIV screening to allocated areas every 3 to 6 months
Successfully refer or initiate 90% of people living with HIV
Provide technical assistance in HIV counseling and recording
Train staff to complete the PI HTS register and report new cases monthly
Compile a record on the confirmed clinic the clients will attend and document referral or link to follow up using tools and algorithm
Trace clients by telephone, home visits or other
Ensure that weekly HIV test kit quality control is done by the HAST counsellors and recorded in the quality control file
Submit all weekly QC reports to the programme quality assurance manager on the 2
of every month
Ensure proficiency testing is conducted and submitted timeously
File all reports / results received from NHLS in patient file
Appropriate referral of all the necessary health related conditions needing further management- ART, psychosocial, substance abuse, gender-based violence, etc.
Submit monthly report on the number of new cases
Compile and maintain a record on the confirmed clinic the clients will attend
Weekly follow-up on referred clients by telephone, home visits or other
Document successful referrals
Conduct regular monitoring of HAST counsellors and peer educators and support site visits
Monitor condom and lubricant stock at project sites and arrange proactive distribution by the team
Perform related office administration duties of the programme
Participate in learning and development opportunities (trainings, workshops, information sessions etc.)
Perform additional responsibilities delegated by managers from time to time
Represent the organisation with pride and ensure you adhere to the ethos and principles of the organisation
Regularly attend briefing meetings, debriefing sessions, staff / site meetings and other meetings as requested
Act as a role model to strengthen positive behaviour change of sex workers and peer educators
Adhere to all national and organisational guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Engage in support work including helping coordinate and / or manage support groups
Participate in support meetings and structures as directed by key populations programme manager
Participate in clinic sensitivity trainings
Give health education talks during sex worker community advisory group (CAG) meetings
Track and monitor success of the project
Knowledge, skills and competencies :
Excellent knowledge of HIV, TB and STI prevention approaches and DOH screening guidelines
Understanding of the challenges facing sex workers in the health context and an ability to communicate and work well with sex workers during the provision of health services
In-depth understanding and knowledge of legislative requirements, acceptable practices and procedures
Good communication skills
