Overview

Manage the strategic sourcing of assigned products (i.e., non-principal managed suppliers). Manage the procurement team and associated processes in a professional manner, ensuring the company brand is associated with reputable suppliers and that business is conducted in a transparent and ethical manner.

Qualifications

University / Postgraduate (Masters Degree) in supply chain management. A Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualification (CIPS), would be an added advantage.

Experience

General Experience : Wide and deep experience providing expert competence (Over 10 years to 15 years). Managerial Experience : Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short / medium timescales within the overall policy framework.

Duties

  • Buying : Oversee the identification and selection of suppliers and negotiations with them on product selection, availability and price for a large category of products.
  • Supplier & Internal Customer Management : Manage relationships with strategic suppliers and internal customers and act as a business partner to them.
  • Likely to involve using large account teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Contract Management : Manage the delivery of a major part of the organization''s contract management program while taking personal responsibility for a limited number of mission critical contracts.
  • Processes and Procedure Development & Implementation : Develop functional or operational processes and procedures and help develop frameworks for area of responsibility or department.
  • Take responsibility for creating underlying procedures and monitoring their implementation.

  • Procurement : Manage a portfolio of major procurement programs in line with overall procurement strategy.
  • Building Capability : Implement the formal development framework for a team, with guidance from senior colleagues. Provide informal coaching to others throughout the organization in area of expertise.
  • Leadership and Direction : Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function''s strategy and business plan within the business area or department;
  • explain the relationship to the broader organization''s mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.

  • Performance Management : Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these;
  • take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
