The Data Science Xcelerator is a 4-month blended learning program (with 2-day in-person intensives per month) for non-technical middle managers.

The program seeks to equip participants with an understanding of the foundations of Data Science and how it can be applied in their respective organization / industry.

As a facilitator, your role centers on delivering engaging and productive learning experiences for participants to enable them to attain learning objectives for the modules / courses within the program.

You will also support students on our online learning platform by providing feedback and mentoring learners through projects that they undertake.


  • Collaborate with course designers to develop, review and provide feedback on content and materials pre- and / or post-delivery.
  • Engage and elicit interactions from participants to successfully lead them to attain learning outcomes during in-person sessions.
  • Support learners on the Learning Management System during periods of online learning by giving mentorship and feedback.
  • Maintain communication with learners for the duration of the course / module.
  • Evaluate participants’ deliverables and provide coaching and feedback to program participants to ensure they are fully benefiting from the program.

  • Background in a quantitative discipline with a focus on at least any one of the following fields : data analytics, machine learning, big data analytics, or computer science.
  • Statistics knowledge for data analytics is a must-have.

  • Experience in corporate / industry applications including, but not limited to, transportation, manufacturing, oil and gas, power / energy, particularly in a technical role relevant to any of the shortlisted disciplines.
  • Previous experience in teaching or facilitator roles.
  • Proven track record in solving data-related challenges in an organisation previously unacquainted with rigorous data analysis, science, and modelling.
  • Experience of using a data warehouse and proficiency in SQL .
  • Working knowledge of information technology environments, administration, policies and processes.
  • Experience in R and / or Python.
  • Predictive modelling experience.
  • This role is part-time , from October 2019 to March 2020 , and will be mostly remote, except for two days per month for in-person sessions in Johannesburg.
