Job Purpose

To plan and execute inspections for new and maintenance work on project sites and ensure that work are being done in compliance with relevant regulations and legislation at Health Facilities in the Western Cape, the successful candidate must be willing to travel extensively.

These positions are based in Cape Town.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma (T / N / S streams) or equivalent, or N 3 and a passed trade test in the building environment, or Registration as an Engineering Technician;
  • A minimum of 3 years' building construction on-site experience; A valid code B driving licence.

    Key Performance Areas

  • Deliver infrastructure maintenance, upgrading and minor new work of Health Facilities; Project management and administration in respect of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance works, executed by contractors;
  • Manage the activities of contractors on construction sites and exercise quality control projects; Preparations of tender documentation, specifications and bills of qualities, analyse and compile project documentation;
  • Budget preparation and estimates of costs for proposed maintenance repair works; The assessment, preparation, compilation and submissions of facility condition reports of Health Facilities;
  • Maintain and report progress consistently to the department management information system and back up documents and information on the database.

    Competencies

  • Knowledge of facets of the construction industry and National Building Regulations; Knowledge of the latest SANS 10142 Electrical wiring code , compilation of specifications and tender regulations;
  • Computer literacy; Excellent technical report writing skills; Excellent communication skills at project management level verbal and written in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape;
  • Customer focus and responsiveness; Quality Management; Scope Change Management; Conflict Management; Problem solving and analysis;
  • Planning and organising; Contract Management; Ability to work well within a team and independently.

    Remuneration

    R 299 709 per annum (Salary level 8).

    Note on remuneration : Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-

    management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-

    fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-

    funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
