Position : Mechatronics Engineer

Department : Mechatronics

Reporting to : Plant Engineering Manager

Key Performance Areas

Take responsibility for assigned projects in line with divisional requirements.

Control and maintain Mechatronics Associated Spares requirements for the Plant.

Timeous Mechatronics repairs and maintenance to plant equipment.

Maintain an effective back-up of all software & PLC programs associated with plant and facilities.

Ensure timeous response to faults.

Maintain machine uptime

Effective troubleshooting to identify problems and carry out repairs.

Perform scheduled maintenance on facilities and attending to breakdown.

Support all departments with mechatronics requirements

Develop and build new mechatronics facilities.

Wire PLC panels and other electronic machinery.

PLC and other software programming.

Assist in upgrading current facilities and electronic advancement ideas.

Ensuring all documentation is completed timeously.

Managing the network infrastructure

Management of the production IT systems and servers

Database administration and development

Ensure good housekeeping at all times.

Work within stipulated budget constraints.

Identify project timing and ensure this is maintained.

Minimum Qualification / Experience Required

Qualification Mechatronics or Electronic Engineering or equivalent computer science programming qualification

Computer programming experience (Delphi, Labview, C#,

5 10 years experience in PLC and computer programming environment

2-3 years software / electronic development experience

PLC programming knowledge (RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Festo FST, Festo Codesys)

Robot Programming (Fanuc, Yaskawa, Denso)

Machine automation and controls

Machine integration

Advanced computer / IT skills

IT infrastructure experience

Windows Server management experience

Database development and administration experience (MySQL exp advantageous)

Mechanical Knowledge

Basic electronic knowledge

Personal Skills

Sound technical skills

Strong leadership skills

Good risk assessment ability

Must be thorough, accurate and meet deadlines.

Organisational and analytical skills

Good communication and negotiation skills

Perform duties with minimum supervision and be a self-starter

Diligent and methodical

Good interpersonal skills
