What you can expect

Responsible for marketing and selling the company’s products to optimise market share and profit margins. Technically support customers to ensure increase in demand for BASF products.

Reach sales targets and set targets for respective BU’s and keep cost budget. Ensures bottom-up budget planning and self-monitoring in line with relevant SBU and regional strategies.

Duties will include the following :

Maintain and develop customer relationships and actively develop successful business opportunities in the Southern & Sub Sahara Africa region whilst staying abreast of changes in and / or new development in product demand in this region

Support sales via technical service activities in the region in order to grow and maintain BASF market share. (e.g. : Correct application of BASF Performance ingredients)

Identify and implement any possible improvements to business processes

Business development according to SBU strategies

Propose business models and route-to-market concept for the allocated portfolio in order to win business in Southern & Sub Sahara Africa

Develop a market / competitor database for allocated portfolio & feed into Sales Team Leader and SBU

Manage customer portfolio (e.g. Tier 1 / 2 / 3, distributor management etc) commercial & technical negotiations, tender participation, technical consultation, cooperation with plants, R&D institutes, equipment suppliers etc

Compiles and monitors sales; APO forecasting and budgets, taking corrective action where necessary

Product / Customer Management adherence to defined KPIs (e.g. DSOs, DIV)

Accurate on-time reporting (e.g. monthly report, forecast, market data, visit report, opportunity pipeline etc according to SBU requirements)

Ensure ongoing market intelligence (e.g. market demand, market shares etc)

Offer operational guidance and support of the relevant CSO’s

What we expect

Bachelors degree in Agriculture - Majoring in Animal Production or a related qualification

Proven track record of 3 - 5 years in the Animal Production or Animal Feed-related industries is required

A well-established network in the related industry would be favourable

Business travel is required in Southern Africa and abroad

Work experience in Sales and Marketing
