We’re looking for an innovative and performance-oriented Senior Social Media Manager to help us bring the future of Movies and TV to South Africa.

Amazon’s Prime Video is an on-demand video entertainment service that offers customers the greatest choice in what to watch, from exclusive Amazon Original shows and movies such as Wheel of Time, Coming 2 America, The Tomorrow War, The Boys, and The Grand Tour to 1000s of popular Movies & TV shows.

In this role, you’ll help develop and execute a world-class social media marketing program for our fans in South Africa, delivering best-in-class customer engagement.

Adept at influencing global partners, you’ll work across multiple internal teams including brand, creative, content and PR, as well as external platform partners and local creative and media agencies to recommend, influence and implement our holistic strategy, gaining buy-in and approval from global Prime Video leadership.

You will also end-to-end own the delivery of pre-planned campaigns and day-to-day editorial decisions.

Bringing a genuine passion for Movies, TV and social media, deep knowledge of South African social media trends and best practices and you will deliver social media results in a fast-paced environment.

Success in this role requires the ability to recommend holistic customer-centric strategies based on local marketplace expertise, excellent project management skills, a deep and current knowledge of each platform’s unique offerings and influencers in South Africa, a keen eye for compelling and innovative content and a passion for continuous improvement.

You will be challenged to push boundaries, proposing and executing new ideas that could help develop new best practices for Prime Video globally.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop the Social Media Marketing strategy recommendation for Prime Video South Africa, supplementing best practices from global Prime Video Social Media programs with strategies specific to South Africa.
  • Build and manage the Social Media support team for South Africa - internal and external resources covering creative, content management, media, community management, platforms and analytics.
  • Note, this role does not currently involve direct people management.

  • Execute on all aspects of curated programs across all platforms, working with your support team to deliver our always-on Social Media program driving positive engagement and brand love for Prime Video and our biggest shows and movies in South Africa.
  • Contribute to business and insights documents, deliver strategic and tactical plans in close partnership with finance teams and provide regular updates to internal and external audiences.
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Social Media marketing strategy development.
  • Experience working with large cross-functional teams and external partners, including creative and media agencies.
  • Track record of developing and executing high-performing Social Media campaigns on time and within budget.
  • Experience using a combination of data and creative judgement to inform planning and tactical decision making.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Avid entertainment fan.
  • Deep knowledge of social media trends in South Africa.
  • Experience building and running a social media program in South Africa.
  • Experience working in TV & Film, entertainment and new platforms.
  • Experience working in South Africa in a nascent business.
