Technical Manager - Olifantsfontein - FMCG (Food)Oversee the food technologists and quality controllers in all Company operationsResponsible for the day-to-day management of the Quality Assurance team including training and development of QA staff and clear identification of objectives to meet the company needsMINIMUM DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY MANAGEMENTMaintains the Quality Management Food Safety (QMFS) systemEnsures the food quality and safety procedures outlined in the QMFS are communicate to all necessary personnel and correctly implementedAnalyzes activities outlined in the QMFS for completion, efficacy, and efficiencyTracks completion of corrective action and verifies preventative actionsIssues corrective actions for the incorrect or ineffective implementation of the QMFS system Identifies improvement opportunities for the QMFSCompletes responsibilities outlined in the QMFS which include, but are not limited to : Oversees the scheduling of calibrations and maintaining recordsOversee the process of Incoming Raw Materials / Inspection / Manage the process of Production Line Quality Checks including product quality, case quality, OPRP and CCP checksServe as member of Food Safety Team and HACCP TeamEnsure all current certification requirements are met as well as the addition and / or compliance of any new required certificationReviews and approves monitoring activities to ensure food safety parameters are metOversees the development and revision of policies and procedures as they pertain to food quality and safetyTRAININGTrain food technologists and quality controllersEnsuring the completion of employee training activities designed to keep employees knowledgeable, informed, and in compliance with food quality and safety standards and procedures relevant to their job functionResponsible for ensuring effectiveness of trainings providedNON-CONFORMING PRODUCTS AND COMPLAINTSOversee and manage the process of non-conforming products outside specificationRelease of non-conforming products to be reworkedEnsures there are process for putting non-conforming products on Hold, including the maintenance of a release log.

Oversees the process of Investigating customer complaints using root cause analysis and works with department managers to determine what corrective and preventative actions are necessaryEnsures that all company operations responds to complaints in the required timeframeDOCUMENTATIONEnsures JB Holding operations obtains compliance documents from suppliers and vendorsInteracts with regulatory personnel, food safety auditors, and customers to maintain positive and responsive relationships and ensure rapid corrective actions through dynamic leadership and timely documentationCompletes customer compliance documentationApproval of customer specific specificationsCommunicates document and specification updates to all relevant departmentsAUDIT AND REGULATORYKeeps up to date with relevant international and local regulationsDirect and schedule customer, 3rd party, and regulatory auditsChampions all external audit by independent bodies and customers of companyRelays audit schedule to necessary personnelREPORTINGPrepares a monthly written report for management recapping food safety and quality issues, trends, corrective actions, and preventive measures taken.

  • Leads annual management review- any changes made and verifies their compliance with food safety and quality standards.OTHEROversees the Health and Safety systems and processes for Company operationsEnsures that company operations has systems and processes in place to ensure sufficient lab supplies and additional items as necessaryReviews and approves lab testing chargesReviews environmental resultsMay assist other managers in supervisory responsibilities as necessaryMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION (CONTINUE)BSc Food Science degree / BTech food technologyMinimum 8 years FMCG experienceExperience in a management positionStrong managerial, communication, training, and interpersonal skillsVery detail orientedStrong problem-solving skillsWorking knowledge of FSSC22000Effective organizational skill;
  • Able to manage priorities and complexitiesKnowledge of processing machinesProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and ERP systemsStrong multi-tasking skillsFSSC 22000 documentation and implementation certificationInternal Audit, PCQI, HACCP, and SFQ Practitioner certification would be beneficialExcellent communication, training, and team building skillGood writing, statistical, analytical, and critical thinking skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities at one time
