Responsibilities : Reporting to ICT Manager and providing input and support on ICT projects where required Providing 1st and 2nd line support to staff and associates Interfacing with other departments within the organization and external stakeholders with regards to ICT related matters / changes.
Logging calls where necessary and responding to ICT Service Desk incidents / requests. Supporting and maintaining Linux Server environments and Open Source Platforms / Tools Supporting and maintaining firewall, UTM, IDS and IPS systems Communicating areas for improvement to management, to improve the overall effectiveness of security safeguards and controls in the organization Responding to emerging threats and other forms of targeted attacks, organized crime, ransomware etc.
Implementing new and maintaining existing cyber security initiatives and provide input into internal IT Security standards and implement control and risk procedures Advising on the installation, configuration and upgrade servers in line with policy and system requirements.
Suggesting areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions Installing and configuring tools for event monitoring, capacity planning, performance monitoring, etc.
Supporting ICT governance initiatives and providing input into policy / procedure development Constant monitoring and notifications of open source vulnerabilities in our applications through the use of Nexus Repository and Nexus Lifecycle.
Participate in occasional standby. Skills and Experience : Relevant tertiary IT qualification. 2+ years experience supporting an enterprise ICT environment.
2+ years experience and working knowledge of Linux administration. 2+ years hands on firewalling / security experience. 1+ years experience with UTM appliances.
1+ years experience with virtualization e.g. VMware, KVM. Experience with performance optimization and capacity planning of virtualized environments.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (all OSI layers). Experience and knowledge of LAN / VLAN / Wireless / VOIP and WAN technologies.
Experience with and knowledge of firewalling. Exposure to backup products such as Backup Exec and Veeam Backup and Replication.
Exposure to SAN storage environment administration. Skills and Knowledge that would be an advantage : Certifications : Linux, RHCE / RHCSA.
Experience in IT security assessment. Security related certification advantageous .e.g. Security +. Experience with managing a Microsoft Active Directory Environments advantageous.
Experience with penetration testing, cybercrime countermeasures and cyber security assessments. Experience with maintaining a Microsoft Exchange Server Environments.
Scripting - PHP, Bash, Pearl & Python. Monitoring solutions such as Nagios, Zenoss, Zabbix. Automation / deployment tools such as Ansible.
Rolling out and support of open source solutions. Familiarity with COBIT / ITIL / ISO 27001.
