The Data Science Unit (DSU) Business Intelligence is part of the Discovery Health Company. We are responsible for building all information assets and delivering information to the business through various reporting channels from an executive level down to the call centre agent.
The information assets that we are building is not only limited to report delivery, but also integrated information assets to support the data scientists, risk analysts and the data analytics teams.
Key Purpose Work closely with a passionate development team to transform raw data into information that can enable and influence effective decision making for operational areas and strategic risk management.
The Data Science BI team finds effective software solutions to technical issues and implement according to specifications.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to : The successful candidate will be required to perform but not limited to the following key outputs in respect of the Data Science BI portfolio :
Creating high quality reporting assets and tools which are interactive, intuitive, stable, dynamic, scalable

Cognos Framework Models
Cognos Framework Models
Cognos 11 Report Studio reports
Create a central access point Business Intelligence and Management Information
End user education on the BI tool created, interpretation of the report and how to access the report
Create and co-ordinate documentation requirements (i.e. explain plans, test cases, user sign-off, requirements) according to unit standards and company standards
Support and maintenance of BI tools developed
Unit test solutions
Participate in peer review sessions
Collaborate strongly with BA and Architect on technical issues and implementation

Education and Experience
Minimum IT degree level education (BCom or BSc in information systems or computer science)
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience development experience using Cognos 11 Report Studio
Experience with Cognos Framework Models
Experience in T-SQL, SQL, P-SQL
Strong experience in SQL Server (SSRS, SSIS)
Working experience in Ms. Excel, advanced Cognos and Qlickview
Strong documentation skills in technical specifications
Process knowledge of SDLC
Experience with industry standard Application
Knowledge of Data Security and Protection Policies
Experience using data warehouse principles and practices
Experience in DAWG (Data Architecture and Working Group)
Exposure to DH data structures
