KONE South Africa continues to focus on growth despite the difficult economic times and we have several strategic positions to support the Global and Local Sustainable Winning with Customers strategy To complement our growth plans, Sales Business Development is considered to be a strategic priority for growing the New Equipment Business.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, we are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Business Development Manager New Equipment Business to be based in our Johannesburg / Durban office.

In this role, you will identify, research, evaluate, and pursue business development opportunities with the objective of positioning KONE competitively in the South African market according to the short and long-term business goals.

Ensure the successful implementation of organization wide business improvements.

KONE South Africa is looking for somebody with a proven track record of Business Development Management at senior management level.

This position requires someone who possesses an analytical mindset and who is result driven with strong commercial acumen skills and someone who is able to manage complex, large and difficult development, implementation or analysis projects.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field including but not limited to business, economics, finance, engineering;
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working in either marketing, product development, sales or business development role;
  • Management Development Program certification being advantageous;
  • Multi-National Company experience with a technical background in the building construction industry and / or Industrial industry
  • Experience in the elevator / escalator industry is preferred but no mandatory;
  • Experience in mapping the ecosystem of the market for short, medium and long term
  • Experience in establishing opportunity pursuit teams;
  • Experience on CRM tools and MS Office
  • Analytical and creative skills.You will need to use market research and sales data to present opportunities to stakeholders and you will need to quickly understand what makes commercial sense to pursue and what could potentially cost more to explore than it could ever bring in.
  • You will be required to interpret and analyse data to draw conclusions and identify patterns;Develop an in-depth understanding the wider market is essential if new, realistic, attainable and profitable opportunities are to be proposed and developed.

  • Creative thinking is essential for this role as you will have the opportunity inseeing new ways in which new and / or existing opportunities could be developed,finding completely new routes to market.
  • Highly motivated, goal oriented, diligent, organized self-starter with an orientation towards a high level of customer service;
  • Communication and Teaming skills as Business development is not for those who like to work alone.
  • Good Leader with the ability to bring people together and to be able to lead by example
  • Passion for sales, with a proven track record and a strong customer focus;
  • Excellent English communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Knowledge of other African languages will be advantageous.
