Fair Cape offers the following vacancy Quality Manager (Microbiological Laboratory) and invites interested candidates suitable for the position and that complies with the minimum requirements of the position to apply.

Main purpose of the job :

To provide a testing laboratory management service to production by performing management of the environmental monitoring,microbiological analysis, hygiene audits, and vulnerability monitoring to ensure that the raw materials,process,final product and factory environment hygiene specifications are met consistently.

Preferred Minimum Requirements :

Bsc Microbiology / Food Science / Biological SciencesTechnology / B.Tech Food Technology

Certificate in ISO 17025

Food safety legislature

Dairy specific specification

Auditing principles

5 years in relevant science category

Preferred Minimum Experience :

Full competence in this role is typically developed over an experience period of 5 years with relevant induction and in-house training.

Knowledge :

Knowledge of FSSC 22000, Good Lab Practice

Internal auditing

Good understanding of dairy manufacturing practices

Applicable legislation and product and process specifications

Environmental sampling methods

Microbiological testing techniques

Dairy sciences specific knowledge

General biological sciences techniques


Ability to maintain a functional and efficient laboratory quality management system in line with laboratory best practice

Planning and organizing

Use of Microbiological laboratory equipment

Change Management

Collect, analyze, organize and critically evaluate information

Advanced Computer Skills

Critical Functional Cmpetencies :

Laboratory Safety policies, Scientific Information gathering and information processing

Laboratory Information Management

Food Safety Legislation

Risk management

Microbiological test procedures and standards
