To lead and drive Occupation Health and Safety (OHS) for the Retail, Real Estate Services (RES Retail) function within Standard Bank of South Africa to ensure uncompromised implementation and monitoring of the OHS standards and procedures during the construction (Capex) and maintenance (Opex) of the Bank's branches and ATMs in accordance with the Building Regulation requirements.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities People Review the relevant OHS compliance training content to ensure alignment to the Group OHS strategy.
Develop and update the OHS compliance training content if required to ensure alignment to minimum standards. Monitor & control OHS training to ensure that all levels of staff receive the required specialised training for their respective OHS roles.
Develop and present awareness presentations and communications to all stakeholders on OHS roles and responsibilities. Establish and maintain effective relationships with external contractors and suppliers by communicating with them frequently to answer questions, monitor and check their satisfaction levels and ensure that service level agreement conditions are being adhered to.
Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within the RES Retail Function to resolve complex issues and deliver high OHS compliance, service and quality outcomes.
Data Design and establish metrics to measure OHS activities by means of a dashboard to enable effective decision-making.
Develop and implement a monitoring plan for RES Retail OHS processes to determine the level of compliance to OHS requirements in business.
Monitor compliance by business to the various OHS procedures and requirements to ensure adherence within RES Retail South Africa.
Take immediate remedial action if required. Report on internal and external stakeholders and suppliers / contractors with regards to Compliance Monitoring findings.
Measure, monitor and report on service delivery metrics & overall performance, against agreed standards to ensure effective delivery by external service providers to the RES Retail Function as per the service level agreements and to utilise the data analysis to influence continuous improvement.
Provide specialist advice and guidance to Business following the correct procedures for incident reporting and investigation.
Risk, Regulatory, Prudential & Compliance Translate the Construction and Maintenance OHS strategy and initiatives into action plans, present the plans to the Property Distribution teams for execution and implementation.
Develop and implement a Construction and Maintenance OHS framework implementation plan which is aligned to the Group OHS Strategy, and the overall business, risk and compliance strategies.
Develop a thorough understanding of the Group Occupational Health and Safety (Group OHS) management strategy in line with Building Regulation.
This role takes accountability for leading and driving OHS standards within RES Retail South Africa. Lead and drive engagements and interactions with the Property Distribution Teams and external contractors with regards to key actions to be taken to ensure minimum standards are met.
Define, agree and document minimum standards and requirements for business and external contractors to ensure clear roles and responsibilities.
Client Develop OHS induction programs and provide training to familiarise new contractors and suppliers with the Bank's business processes and quality systems.
Track, measure, report and evaluate contractor performance to ensure adherence to Service level agreements. Lead and drive engagements with Property Distribution teams, external Contractors and Suppliers nationally (within each region) and attend the relevant forums to present on the performance and continuous support for the OHS related service improvements.
Monitor and control the RES Retail OHS Risk Register quarterly to ensure risks are identified and appropriate actions are implemented in order to mitigate and manage risks for the Retail Function.
Drive the Risk Review Process for the RES Retail Function to ensure an effective process to identify and mitigate risks.
Take full accountability for the OHS Risk Register to ensure accuracy and mitigation of risk. Lead all engagements with internal and external stakeholders to ensure risks are identified and managed within approved parameters.
Monitor deliverables and actions agreed in the OHS Risk Register on a continuous basis to ensure risks are mitigated. Review RES Retail governance documents such as procedures and guidelines for effective OHS management.
Strategy Lead the implementation of the OHS standard and procedures to ensure a consistent and standardised approach to RES Retail construction and maintenance management.
Develop the OHS Construction and Maintenance Management strategy for the RES Retail Function and ensure alignment to the overall Group OHS Strategy.
Monitor and control contractors' compliance with the relevant health and safety laws, best practices, internal guidelines and procedures.
Technology & Architecture Drive the automation of the Construction and Maintenance OHS processes for receiving risk assessments, tracking and reporting of incidents for the OHS management end-to-end process and reporting aligned to the Standard Bank Group OHS mandate.
Preferred Qualification and Experience Minimum qualification : Degree in Health Sciences. A Masters degree in Health Sciences would be beneficial as this is a specialist role.
Minimum of 8 years OHS experience. 3-4 years experience in identifying risks relevant to the work area or the organisation and identifying controls to manage these risks.
3-4 years experience in providing support and guidance to business to comply with relevant requirements. 3-4 years experience in understanding risks relating to premises and developing controls to manage the risks.
