Purpose of the Job

To operate machinery and / or equipment in production.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Execute daily tasks and work instructions according to the relevant SOP's
  • Ensures availability (Raw Material, Components, Equipment and Consumables) as per SOP before commencement of work
  • Prepare solutions, clean and sanitize equipment, tools, facility and certify clean / complete cleaning checklist according to SOP
  • Perform in-process and other checks as per BMR, specification and SOP; calculate, report, document and check the necessary information
  • Ensure that all checks, logbooks and documentation is completed and signed as per relevant SOP’s
  • Identify and report on operational problems / issues out of specification
  • Ensure the discarding of waste according to the relevant SOP’s
  • Ensures that shift checks on machines, cubicles, scales and overall cleanliness are conducted
  • Perform routine strip-down, assembly, settings and operation of equipment / tools according to SOP
  • Perform final major settings during change-over (batch-to-batch / product-to-product) as per the relevant SOP
  • Resolve minor breakdowns and assist with Major breakdowns
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance and assist with major preventative maintenance
  • Participate in and facilitate root cause analysis and recommend improvements
  • Participates and ensure the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in and ensure that OEE, VPM, variation to standard and downtime is recorded and measured correctly
  • Participate in face-to-face handover as per SOP
  • Adhere to prescribed daily, weekly and monthly schedules
  • Requirements

    Skills / Experience / QualificationsMinimum matric

  • Senior National Certificate
  • N5 Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Trade Tested) or Dip Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical would be an advantage
  • Manufacturing experience would be an advantage
