Midrand - A global pharmaceutical is seeking an Associate Market Access Specialist, this role will be office-based in Johannesburg, with infield responsibility.

The role will guide, coordinate, plan, and prioritize the broad area of market access capabilities to design and implement innovative market access solutions into the changing market environment in South Africa.

Shape a favourable environment for the company’s products and services through effective and targeted communication with payers as dictated by the local country business needs.

Drive cross-functional teamwork, placing the patient at the centre of any efforts and operating within the business code of conduct / policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Managing Reimbursement As part of the country Market Access team, work to support securing optimal reimbursement and funding for products.

Conduct regular review of reimbursement and funding mechanisms to identify opportunities and address challenges.Managing Access Play an active part in brand teams and identify opportunities to work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues to deliver on brand objectivesDevelop and nurture relationships with key payers, payer influencers and opinion leaders to remove access barriers to productsWorking collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues, shape and influence guidelines and protocols to optimise market access for products.

Pricing Supporting the strategic pricing plan established at the affiliate for the franchise. Support in administering all pricing processes at the National Department of Health / overseeing compliance to Commercial Policies / maintaining internal price databases and files Tender Management & Territory activity Collaborate cross functionally, to support the formulation and execution of Tender Strategies for company’s brandsContacts : List the key / most frequent internal & external contacts for the positionExternal : Medical Aid Administrators and or schemes / National Department of Health / DSP’s / Council of Medical Schemes.

Internal : Global & Regional teams / Local Brand Teams / Marketing, Medical and Regulatory departments. Experience required : Life-sciences degree preferredA commercial background with experience in at least one of the following areas : pharmaceutical / device sales, pharmaceutical marketing, pharmaceutical business / market development or a reimbursement and access role with proven successA comprehensive knowledge of healthcare structure, policy, and governance across countryA strong understanding of healthcare funding and decision-making at a Regional and Local level in country for hospital and ambulatory sector treatmentsKnowledge of the principles of evidence-based medicine and the applicability of health outcomes measuresBuilding strategic work relationships : Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other areas, teams, departments, units, or organizations to help achieve business goals.

Communication and Influence : Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media, using appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods.

Continuous Improvement and negotiation : Effectively exploring alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties.

Planning and Organizing : Able to plan and execute multiple complex projects and maintain relationships.Initiating Action : Self-starter who is focused on completing tasks.
