Our international team provides trading, sales, structuring and risk management solutions for our clients across global financial markets.
This includes FX, commodities, equity, credit, fixed income and debt instruments. We also offer market insight, trading services, analytics and new financial products across a number of asset classes.
To trade the assigned product(s) and contribute to the generation of (profit and loss) P&L within the defined mandate to maximise trading book profit while adhering to defined risk levels, codes of conduct and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Pricing and Trading execution
Determine consistent and competitive prices of a range of financial instruments and prepare and update quotes, in line with market vision and trading strategy.
Collaborate with banking product managers to understand market risk and customise banking book product pricing strategies to improve the market share of products to suit risk positioning.
Trade the assigned product(s) and manage the resulting trading risk (within agreed trading limits, defined trading protocols, guidelines and risk levels) to ensure maximum profitability of the assigned trading portfolio, with guidance from Desk Head.
Monitor market pricing of a range of assets eligible for HQLA portfolio to propose competitive and market related pricing changes.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and focus areas to enable trading desk operational strategy and optimise booking of transactions across multiple platforms.
Risk, Regulatory, Prudential and Compliance
Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions to ensure work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner while delivering high quality service to clients and stakeholders.
Market Knowledge and Data Analytics
Monitor, collect and analyse historic, current and expected market developments, trends, and performance to proactively translate these into appropriate trading positions (discretionary) and price making activity to maintain a competitive position.
Develop and maintain an understanding of client behaviours and respond to client needs either via sales teams or direct channels to provide quality (trading and product) market commentary and insights to the sales teams to inform a successful sales process and maintain high-quality client experiences.
Leverage and assess client data, insights and analytics from client engagements to inform price making against the market and improve desk performance.
Perform trading transaction that contribute to generation of P&L. Reconcile trading activities and compile activity, position, and profit / loss reports according to defined schedules to highlight any anomalies.
Provide insights and ideas to optimise the asset class products and methodologies so that the asset class business stays relevant and competitive.
Partner with Business Enablement to understand, test and implement new product developments and enhancement to capitalise on market opportunities.
Liaise with internal stakeholders and authorised counterparties, brokers, financial institutions and peers to ensure the agreed processes and functions are performed to allow consistent daily performance.
Technology and Architecture
Contribute to the simplification and modernisation of the asset class landscape to prepare for transition to an optimised digital trading experience.
Mentor junior team members on markets and product understanding to empower and support people and foster a culture that enables courage, confidence, and hunger to win
Minimum Qualification and Experience
An undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Economics)
A Quantitative or Analytical degree would be preferred
Proficient knowledge of and experience in a specific area of trading, including all relevant product / asset classes / financial instruments and a basic understanding of trading limits and price making.
Proficient understanding of financial and global markets, economic and market drivers, risk and regulatory environments.
Proficient understanding and application of appropriate market knowledge, norms and principles in complying to market rules and regulations
Proficient understanding of BASEL 3 liquidity risk requirements
