A career in our Accounting Services Group practice, within Assurance Support services, will provide the opportunity to support our engagement teams and clients by providing advice and counsel on accounting, financial reporting, and strategic business issues.
In joining, you’ll help ensure a complete and relevant exchange of information among our consultants and in turn with engagement teams and clients, provide experts advice on a variety of specific topics, support engagement teams in resolving complex issues, and supporting clients and their subsidiaries in evaluating the potential impact of accounting and reporting standard setting initiatives.
You’ll develop strong relationships with our engagement teams and established audit clients and enhance our ability to meet greater investor expectations with the challenges of an increasingly complex business environment.
Our team provides advice and counsel on accounting, financial reporting, and strategic business issues using US GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards frameworks.
You’ll work on both local and global engagements and keep PwC teams informed about accounting and financial reporting developments that might affect engagements through issuing communications and through curated trainings.
You’ll also assist with developing and communicating PwC’s point of view to internal and external parties as needed.

About the role
Being a qualified CA with a first time pass record you will enjoy the technical aspects of your accounting knowledge and be up to date with the latest developments in international financial reporting standards.
Essential skills and experience
Able to work as part of a team as well as independently in an unstructured environment
Strong leadership skills (determination),
IFRS experience in technical accounting matters together with specialist industry knowledge in financial services
High energy levels and superior debating skills
Strong business acumen
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proactive anticipation and resolution of issues under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS, formerly IAS), coupled with an understanding of the impact of income tax, financial markets, valuation, corporate governance, rating agency and regulatory concerns, preserve the value of transactions.
Relevant professional qualification CA (SA)
8 10 post articles experience

Accounting Consulting Services is an accounting consulting business providing accounting advisory services to engagement teams and clients in Southern Africa and the rest of Africa.
The department is currently experiencing growth, driven by long term client relationships and a strong team. In order to take full advantage of the existing growth opportunities we are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated person to join our team.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on the latest accounting developments and assist in communicating these developments throughout the firm and to the marketplace.
He / she will be expected to give support to :
The African practice primarily Southern Africa
The ACS Partners with respect to : - Work arising from the firm's representation on various professional bodies - Commenting on exposure drafts or proposed interpretations.
Preparing and presenting presentations on various accounting issues.
Performing research on accounting matters, legislation and regulatory issues affecting disclosure.
Addressing enquiries raised by engagement teams and presenting complex findings to PwC partners and senior executives of clients.
Raising the technical profile of PwC in the marketplace via seminars, press releases; production of reference material and publications
Mentoring and coaching of junior staff members on key technical aspects
Acting as key accounting contact on key clients of the firm
