Claims Administrator - Reinsurance Claims.

Purpose of Role :
The role of the claims administrator is to provide efficient and professional reinsurance claims administration and collect and services nationally as well as internationally for the reinsurance clients and to assist the technical accounts function as required.
Line Management Responsibility :
Key Areas of Responsibilities
Capture claims on the in-house system and actively monitor the claims diary, client claim register and claim files.
Notify Reinsurers of claims.
Calculate reinstatement premiums where applicable.
Liaise with Brokers regarding cash calls and / or similar matters raised by clients.
Recover claims from Reinsurers and settle clients’ claims timeously.
Monitor incoming receipts and payments from clients and Reinsurers.
Liaise with the finance team on debtors' age analysis and recon items in order to clear outstanding matters.
Adjust reinstatement premiums when actual premiums for covered period are received from clients.
Prepare and distribute claims statistics to clients on a monthly basis in an agreed format.
Identify and report potential problems in advance and proactively assist Brokers, clients and Reinsurers to resolve claims queries efficiently and professionally.
Participate in special projects and ad hoc additional work requirements.
Take ownership and accountability for cash call collections.
Responsible for engaging in business development and / or contributing directly or indirectly to all business development efforts in Aon South Africa.
Grade 12 (matric)
An appropriate NQF level 4 FAIS / short-term insurance qualification
Preferably a relevant bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law or Insurance and Risk management
Sound knowledge and understanding of reinsurance
Knowledge of reinsurance claims
Proficiency in basic accounting

Proven ability to work with and in teams
Computer literacy with advanced experience in MS Word and Excel
Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar or related role
Preferably have experience in reinsurance claims
Have previously had a mandate to settle claims
Have knowledge and understanding of the applicable provisions set out in the Short-Term Insurance Act No 53 of 1998 and supporting regulations.
Understand the provisions of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), No 38 of 2001 and amendments thereof.
