PURPOSE :

  • To identify and address individual, departmental and company training needs and to coordinate learning interventions which will assist individuals and the organisation to attain its objectives.
  • To provide the company with best practices regarding Human Resource Development initiatives and to assist with the implementation thereof
  • To ensure legal compliance and reporting in all Human Resources Development activities
  • To assist with the development and implementation of Human Resources Development strategies on behalf of the company
  • SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, AND QUALITY

  • Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
  • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
  • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
  • Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
  • Customer Relations :

  • Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
  • Measure customer satisfaction within a business unit and recommend corrective action
  • Ensure customer satisfaction
  • Suppliers Relations :

  • Maintain and improve relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders
  • BUSINESS PROCESSES

    Training and Development :

  • Implement and maintain a training system to address competencies of the employees
  • Determine company and departmental training needs
  • Assist Line Management in sourcing training interventions to address identified training needs
  • Co-ordinate the Training and Development process
  • Co-ordinate and manage the following processes; Operator Training, AET, Apprenticeships, Learnerships, Bursars and Leadership Training
  • Manage the scheduling of legal and other training interventions
  • Co-ordinate development of Learning Materials and training courses
  • Manage Learning Records and overseeing general Training Administration and Training Matrixes
  • Compile and submit the Work Place Skills Plan and Annual Training Report
  • Establish, maintain and chair the Training Committee
  • Manage subordinates, including training and development students
  • Manage the induction of new employees
  • Compile and control the budget
  • Talent Management

  • Design, implement and maintain talent management initiatives
  • Design, implement and maintain succession planning initiatives
  • Introduce, implement and maintain coaching and mentoring initiatives
  • Recruitment and Selection :

  • Provide Samancor Ferrometals / Ferroveld with benchmarked recruitment processes and procedure documentation
  • Facilitate and conduct interviews for learners, apprentices, in service and training positions
  • Process letter of appointment / regret letters for learners, apprentices, in service and training positions
  • Register learners, apprentices, and trainees with relevant authorities and report on progress, and completion of programmes as required
  • File appropriate documentation
  • Sign-on all learners, apprentices, in service and training positions
  • Prepare reports on recruitment and selection for learners, apprentices, in service and training positions
  • Apply Employment Equity principles in recruitment and selection
  • Prepare reports on Employment Equity and make recommendations to management
  • Assist with any other recruitment and selection processes as requested
  • Policies and Procedures :

  • Provide Samancor Ferrometals / Ferroveld with HRD Processes and Procedure documentation
  • Ensure efficient application of all Samancor HRD Policies and Samancor Standards
  • Implement HR Policies, Procedures, Standards, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc. within Samancor Chrome Ferrometals
  • HR General

  • Implement a HRD Resource Library
  • Manage learners, apprentices and in service trainees
  • Collaborate with HR
  • Drive achievement of HR Key Performance indicators and implementation of HR(D) Strategies
  • Initiate and manage initiatives, committees and / or interventions related to Corporate Social Investment, Culture, Organisational Development, Wellness and / or Employee Transport
  • Reporting :

  • Compile Business Unit related monthly reports as requested
  • Compile and submit all legal and legislative reports as required by various institutions
  • Keep records of submitted reports for audit purposes
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on reporting
  • Report on KPI’s and Strategy implementation
  • Keep stakeholders and management informed of all progress, deviations, statuses, risk factors and any other aspects requiring reporting
  • HR Administration :

  • Establish, maintain, and chair any related committee
  • Manage service providers as allocated
  • Maintain all employee training records and filing
  • Maintain a Learner Management System
  • Prepare for internal and external audits
  • Liaise with auditors and put measures in place to prevent and / or address audit findings
  • Compile and control the budget
  • GROWTH : HR Benchmarking :

  • Benchmark Employment and HR(D) practices against the external market, as requested
  • Research alternative HR systems and processes and make recommendations
  • Manage continuous improvement through operational excellence

  • Degree or National Diploma in a Human Resources related field
