Key Purpose

Responsible for managing Transport Compliance systems and processes for operations as well as the

Administration of road transport compliance.

Specific Outcomes

Freight Billing Coordination

  • Execute a Freight bill of approx R50 million per month for primary and secondary transport services
  • Maintain Freight tariffs for Primary & Secondary Transport in GSAP system to ensure accurate and timely payment of hauliers.
  • This entails rates changes due to :

    Statutory promulgated adjustments eg. Fuel & interest rates

    Freight Industry agreed adjustments eg. Labour costs

    Annual Rates escalations, as per agreements

    New equipment injection in the existing contracts

    New contracts for Primary and Secondary Transport

  • Verify and pay monthly claims made by hauliers on SUS system for adhoc costs related to road transport services
  • Advise Procurement on contracts value changes to ensure accurate generation of purchase orders in the system *Calculate and Process monthly accruals for Road Transport costs
  • Regular engagements with Finance Department (S&D focal point) to ensure that accruals and payments are processed accurately, timely and in line with approved budgets *Serve as a focal point / custodian for the Freight Self Billing system
  • Coordinate Procurement related Processes

  • Create Requisitions and ensure payment for suppliers of non-freight related services or goods.
  • Constant liaison with Procurement and haulier financial departments to ensure accurate and timely payments of hauliers.
  • Assist the Transport Contracts Manager in drawing and managing Road Transport Budget
  • Support the Transport Contract Manager when doing new business costing for Sales
  • Assist the Transport Contracts Manager when drawing new Tender documents and Contracts Board submissions *Conduct transport costs benchmarking on regular basis *Filing / Records / Systems Management
  • Ensure accurate amd maintained manual filing system in place and updated
  • All service provider data maintained up to date,filed and readily available

  • Maintain effective relationships with all external stakeholders (Hauliers)
  • Compliance to Performance Contract

  • Regular feedback on performance deliverables
  • Accountable for IDP

  • Identify development areas and take initiative to close gaps
  • Manage workload / time to enable execution of IDP Education & ExperienceDiploma in Transport or similar field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in transport operations Knowledge, Skills & AttributesSkills :
