Our client is a South African subsidiary of a world market leader in the aviation industry seeking an experienced Avionics System Architect to join their dynamic team based in Johannesburg's, South Africa.
They are looking for someone who has a driven personality, who can deal with stakeholders at all level and who is 100% dedicated.
THE ROLE :
Reporting to the engineering department and the contracts manager, your main duties are :
Collate stakeholder needs (from Projects / Programs, Marketing, Support, end-users and customers) for the overall architecture
Define operational concepts and use cases for overall avionics
Perform functional analysis and define functional architecture
Specify all requirements (functional and non-functional) allocated to the avionics system
Validate and cascade the overall set of avionics requirements to avionics functions
Define all avionics external interfaces for physical architecture
Propose the most effective avionics design resulting from trade-off based on constraints and all other influencing criteria
Ensure overall verification activities at avionics level
Prepare the technical substantiation materials for Qualification / Certification at avionics level
Lead the flight clearance activity
Performance interface with other helicopter systems and ground segment / open world
Working in a trans-national department in close co-operation with other avionic architects at the factory and liaison with all avionics
Degree in Aviation / Aerospace Engineering
5+ years of avionics architecture experience
Expertise in Systems Engineering standards and practices, avionics hardware / software, vehicle command control
Leadership and communication skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet set deadlines
