Group Real Estate : identifying new premises, locations and buildings, leasing real estate, buying and selling property, construction and maintenance.

Job Purpose

  • Provide a provincial security service to support the Provincial Security Manager and the bank’s standards of protection for people and assets at points of representation, other strategic installations and support Provincial Operations and POR Network
  • Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities


  • Develops and maintains an open communication channel with business partners to foster greater co-operation and teamwork
  • Promoting general security awareness and vigilance via coaching and presentations.
  • Monitor and assess Security Vendors on behalf of Security Services ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Translate business needs and requirements into technical requirements.
  • Adherence of the security technologies to the Bank’s defined standards
  • Successful security implementation and execution of services

  • Appropriate response to security incidents and / or involvement in the resolution of resolution of security incidents
  • Ensure proper Incident Management
  • Incident Management : Post mortem reporting to Group Physical Security and Province
  • Report incidents
  • Compile reports informing Group Physical Security and Province of all incidents relating to security operations in the province
  • Analyzing incidents in terms of :
  • circumstances and or
  • modus operandi and where necessary
  • motivate amendment to existing policy, specifications and standards, in order to eliminate the risks, and reduce the frequency and severity of such incidents.
  • Statistical Crime trend analysis and reporting
  • Trend analysis of incidents to ensure effective root cause analysis

  • Ensure that you submit quality Monthly and quarterly reports / dashboards within the set deadlines. When reporting on incidents please start showing potential losses
  • Give an overview of security concerns, highlights and statistics and listen to business partner concerns at Provincial level
  • 12 x Impactful Monthly reports within the required time frames per annum

  • Conduct Branch Security and Guard compliance Assessments as per month goals and also provide guard and staff awareness sessions during these visits.

  • ATM Assessments
  • ATM’s to be assessed at branch during Branch Assessment
  • Pre and Post Atm validation
  • Guarding
  • Site Validations (POR’s and ATM)
  • Efficient and timely process execution
  • Assist the Provincial Security Manager to provide security input and sign off at POR’s site planning and development stages, including renovations and relocations
  • Assist the Provincial Security Manager in final Security sign off of premises after infrastructure changes completed.
  • Accountable for :
  • Making effective recommendations even under difficult circumstances
  • Taking responsibility and showing initiative
  • Submit assessment reports
  • Monitor progress
  • Recommend security solutions
  • Assist the Provincial Security Manager to convince business of the need to implement the recommended security solutions within an agreed timeframe to mitigate against threats and exposures

  • Ensure better turnaround times and a more cost-efficient service
  • Receive service call, placed on GRES Connect (Branch maintenance) by branch, via e-mail
  • Evaluate the call follow up with branch etc.
  • Identify the correct technical vendors
  • Send the GRES Connect call to the applicable vendor via e-mail
  • Follow-up on calls
  • If branch complains that service was not yet rendered
  • If call outstanding for longer than turnaround time requires
  • If no feedback is received within the turnaround time
  • Update the system continuously, or provide the necessary information to the GRES Connect Official to update the system until the call is closed.
  • Identify Risk
  • Evaluate the Risk
  • Report the Risk to involved parties
  • Mitigate Identified Risk
  • Monitor Identified Risk
  • Terminate / Transfer / Ignore Identified Risk
  • Provincial Risk awareness
  • Draft plans of action to address all risks and concerns highlighted
  • Conduct awareness sessions

  • Monitor your provincial security budgets and ensure that all expenditure is maintained within the set budget
  • Actual spent vs Budget monthly and Year-to-date
  • Monitor Guarding Budget
  • Monitor Special Project Budget
  • Monitor Maintenance Budget

  • Provincial Joint Banking Forum attendance together with the Provincial Security Manager
  • Represent Group Physical Security and the Province at recognised crime forums
  • Monthly JBF Meetings to be attended
  • Monthly meetings with Provincial Management to be setup and attended
  • Monthly Service Provider meetings which will include :
  • Guarding Services
  • Technical Vendors
  • Armed Response
  • Alarm Monitoring
  • Security liaison service to the POR Network
  • Bi-weekly Intelligence and Operational Meetings

  • Ensure that all Business partner and Service provider SLA’s and SOP’s are relevant and enforced
  • Quality of relationships gained and sustained with Service Providers
  • Ensure that the following is relevant and enforced :
  • Contracts
  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Service Level Agreements

  • Ensure assistance to the Provincial Security Manager in proper sign off of e.g. Branch revamps (GRES), New branches (GRES), Security Special Projects, in line with approved budget
  • Preferred Qualification and Experience

  • 3-5 Years experience in a security oriented environment with a Security or Business related Diploma or Degree.
  • General knowledge of the banking industry would be an advantage
  • Travel - Will be required to visit each POR annually and conducted site validations as required.
  • Time flexibility : Will be required to be available after hours and work on weekends if required.
  • Knowledge / Technical Skills / Expertise

  • Technical astuteness
  • Sound assessment skills, knowledge in respect of policies, procedures, standards and specifications, administration, are required.
  • Trend Analysis relating to Modus Operandi and Route Cause Analysis.
