Reference : FRP-KK-1*Our client in the Mineral Research Sector is looking for a Head of Mineral Services to head the function of Research Group in MPD division and conduct research, development, and innovation (RDI) activities.
KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS : - As a Group Head, assume the line management responsibilities for the Group. Provide technical input and guidance in the execution of research projects at a specialist level.
Ensure that projects are executed at the right technical level, are on-time and within budget. Oversee interactions with the research peers, clients, consultants and service providers.
Actively participate in marketing the Groups services. Ensure that client needs are understood correctly and that appropriate research or test programmes are developed.
Ensure that commercial and science vote income targets are achieved and that the Process Group operates at a profit. Develop annual business plan for the Process Demonstration Group- Achieve Group revenue target of approximately R15M- Oversee the commissioning of pilot-pants, mini plants.
Oversee the performance of the Groups technical work on projects, were technical expertise and interactions with researchers, clients are required at a national competitive level- Provide clients with professional consulting services.
Develop and implement a strategy to grow the Groups business in the local, regional and international markets. - Develop and execute appropriate research programs (funded by the science vote) aimed at strengthening and expanding the technical abilities of the Mineral Services Group.
Ensure that QES procedures are strictly adhered to by the Groups employees and that project work is executed with maximum overall technical efficiency.
Develop a program for training of junior staff and motivate and guide Groups employees.- Produce professional journals, reports, scientific papers and presentations at local and international conferences.
Participate in the development of long-term business strategies for the Group. Identify opportunities for technology development and commercialization.
Lead and or participate in research and development projects aimed at the strategic positioning of the Group for future growth.
Keep up to date at a national professional level with technology and business developments that are relevant to the divisions interestsQUALIFICATION AND JOB KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS REQUIRED : - The person appointed to this position must possess a PhD Engineering (Chemical or Metallurgical).
At least 10 years experience in Comminution and possessing at least 3 years in staff management. - Experience in laboratory scale testwork, plant audits, sample preparation and comminution circuits.
Strong management and business development skills are required- A working knowledge of legislation covering the workplace.
