Our client a reputable name within the Chemical industry requires the services of a Sales and Logistics Manager to join their dynamic team.

You as the Sales and Logistics Manager will be responsible to manage the local sales / & finished goods warehouse activities by planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, warehousing and dispatch of various products to satisfy the identified needs of customers thereby contributing to the growth and profitability of the organization.

To Manage the full cycle of logistics, by deploying resources, processing of customer orders from instigation to final payment by customers through effective advertising and sales promotion, technical data sheets / MSDS, customer service, organizing of labour and materials by applying and following SOP's, health, safety, environmental and quality requirements as well as applying best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities : KEY STANDARDSManaging and improving sales volumes at market related prices to achieve market leadershipManaging the sales function to ensure that : Pricing is regularly updated to maximize profitability and market shareSales forecasts are continually updated and production order timeously placed to meet customer requirementsAnnual sales budgets are complied.

Responsible for the warehouse security and accountabilityMaking sure that all freight receipts and deliveries are carried out in timeEnsuring stock levels are managed and controlled effectively.

Maintaining high standards of materials handlingVisiting clients to monitor the quality of service they are receiving and identify potential Sales opportunities.

Management work PlanningSales forecast - estimate and predict future conditions and events and the needs and opportunities associated with the timeBudgetingPrepare sales budget based on historical data, competitor activity, customer input and order volumes for presentation to the Board in October of each year.

OrganizingTo arrange and relate the activities in the local sales & finished goods warehouse department so that it is performed effectively at reasonable cost and with maximum satisfaction of the people doing itLeadingTo develop, motivate and guide local sales & finished goods warehouse staff in order to maintain a stable, loyal employee group that can act effectivelyControllingTo assess and regulate work so that approved plans are accomplished and deviations are corrected promptlyDevelop performance standards for all staff, and establish the criteria by which work and results are to be measured and evaluated.

  • Evaluate performance of all staff and analyse, interpret and determine the worth or quality of work done and the results achieved, on an ongoing basisChair disciplinary and grievance hearings;
  • as and when required in accordance with relevant company policies and proceduresTechnical Work (Sales & Admin)Inform customers of new productsPromote technical assistanceBe alert to opposition activity in order to retain customers & increase market shareMonitor purchasing profiles -

    To timeously identify variances to budget / competitor / economic trendsManaging consignment stocks warehouses - with finished goods adjusting maximum and minimum stock levels occasionally.

    Liaise with Production Planner to ensure adequate stock is held to meet customer requirements.Product pricing - Setting and managing per individual customer to ensure that maximum profitability is achieved in conjunction with other members of the Marketing Department.

    To advise customers of price changes timeouslyCustomer pricing - ensure that Accounting programme is updated with new pricing & inform customer accordingly.

    Ensure that customer orders are correctly enteredEnsure that technical data sheets are updated and maintained for customer presentationMotivating modification / upgrading of packaging methods to suit customer requirements.

    Maintain selling price of all raw materials and finished product.Credit ControlInitiating documentation for the opening of new accounts / modifying terms where necessary Analyzing accounts to ensure timeous paymentClosing / stopping accounts where customers are in breachLogistics & Stock TakeTo manage the activities in the finished goods warehouse which includes stock levels to ensure production meets salesMarketingPromote new products.

    Flamex. Market it to customers by providing them with samples & competitive pricing in order to convince them that our product is a better option.

    Generate new business. Visiting potential customers, sourcing information about competitors, taking samples for the Laboratory to test in order to provide a better product to acquire new business The same procedure is followed relating to existing customers.

    Monitor and report on competitor activity levels and generating of counter strategies. Talk customers out of competitor products through use of methods explained in A & B above.
