Kraaifontein, Western CapeR208 584 a yearJob PurposeThe Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to liaise, co-ordinate, mobilise, inform and assist communities in the Western Cape with access to services provided, identify and communicate their needs to government at national, provincial and local government level to bring government closer to the people of the Western Cape.

This post is based in Kraaifontein.Minimum RequirementsSenior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification); Minimum of 2 years’ proven experience in community development.

  • RecommendationCommunity Development Learnership Certificate; A valid driving licence; A good understanding of community needs and circumstances;
  • Working knowledge of state functions and programmes.Key Performance AreasInform and assist communities with access to services provided by government;
  • Determine the needs of communities and communicate it to the relevant structures; Promote networks and enhance the activities of existing local community workers aimed at improved service delivery;
  • Compile reports and documents on progress, issues attended to, actions taken and outcomes as required; Keep up to date with regard to all services rendered by government and the processes and mechanisms to access the services.

  • CompetenciesKnowledge of the following : Applicable policies, legislation; guidelines; standards; procedures and best practices in the public services;
  • Composition of communities in the Western Cape and their functioning; Existing service delivery levels in the Western Cape;
  • Proven computer literacy; Written and verbal communication skills.RemunerationR 208 584 per annum (Salary level 6) Note on remuneration : Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.

    MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
