Job Spec- Chief Financial Officer of the CBRE Excellerate Joint Venture- Responsible for the delivery of a sound operational finance model and statutory accounting function across 28 plus countries including Sub Saharan Africa, North Africa and the Middle East.

  • Manage all auxiliary functions, including legal, IT, internal audit and external audit.The person we are looking for.Key traits : - Tough experienced operator in delivering operational finance reengineering assignments.
  • Have experience in being the FD in a large multinational business across multiple jurisdictions.- Be calm under pressure and able to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to develop exceptional finance business partners and contract support staff- Develop processes, systems and infrastructure to support growth and expansionKey skills / Experience : - Have been involved in a bottom up assessment of the operational finances of a company, including : A personality that is able to clinically assess an operational finance function and articulate the operational and statutory finance solution required.
  • Being involved in a large organisation where an assessment of the basic business model was required and then reengineered the operational finance processes to support this business model.

    Understands what processes and disciplines are required to optimally run a high-volume transaction business. Have designed an optimal IT accounting platform to support the operational finance model, preferable to have SAP accounting knowledge.

    Built a team structure and staffed with the optimal staff to deliver on the operational finance model. Designed KPI's to link team member performance to deliverables.

    Designed the optimal management accounting reports to report on both operational and finance.- Have been involved in the day to day cashflow management of the business : Have a strong understanding of cash flow management, including how to optimise receivable collections and payables management.

    Have experience in cross border treasury management.- Have run a fully-fledged finance department that is capable of managing : an annual financial time table for stakeholders.

    delivery on tight monthly reporting deadlines. a fully automated budgeting and forecasting process. Building a centre of excellence to ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax and treasury the annual and semi-annual IFRS statutory consolidation and preparation of annual financial statements in all jurisdictions.

    taxation across all jurisdictions. an annual audit process across multiple jurisdictions.- Have ancillary experience in : Developing and executing on an internal plan with the compliance department.

    Manage the in-house legal resources to oversee all legal related matters. Manage the IT relationship on delivery with the central group shared resources.

    Managing an annual external audit. Develop a centralised capability for repeatable transactional functionsDecision making authority : Employees in this band make the rules and establish precedents enabling lower bands to produce.

    They interpret the strategy laid out by the Board by applying material and manpower resources to achieve objectives outlined in the strategy specific to minor organizational function.

    This position operates within budget parameters and the decision frameworkThey are the final finance decision maker for the joint ventures and respective legal entities.

    Experience / Education : Chartered Accountant (SA) with 3 years articles and 8 years relevant experience.Experience in the property or facility management industry preferable.

    Not required, but preferable if worked for a multinational organization, with strict and tight reporting deadlines.Experience in managing a team of up to 7 direct line reports.

  • Managed annual turnover in excess of R500m.Not essential but preferably operated within M&A or JV environmentSkills required : Computer literacy : SAP / SAP BI;
  • MS Office - Excel advanced, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word;Administration : Time management, advanced financial reporting and analysis, policies and processes, people management, business planning and forecasting, stakeholder management.

    Knowledge required : Detailed knowledge of all financial policies, procedures and processes, capital expenditure, contract management -legal aspects, full suite of reporting statements, budgets, forecasts, IFRS, US GAAP and Tax.

    Competencies required : Communication, analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making, team leadership, change leadership, financial and business acumen, challenging, customer and quality focus, self-confidence, teamwork and co-operation, drive and productivity, accuracy, methodical tolerance for stress, applied strategic planning.

    Achieve results within constraints. Identify, analyse and resolve potential business risks, as well as opportunities and solutions to enhance business performance.

    Major drivers of work volume : Volume and complexity of the various divisions and companies in the region.Complexity of reporting needs.

    Maximise business performance based on understanding of market requirements and changes, and ensuring continuous improvement.

    Consistently seeks to improve quality service and efficiency. Contribute to the evaluation and development of the business strategy.

    Interface / relationships with : Internal : JV COO, JV Board, Shareholder Finance Leads, Operational Leads, Procurement, Banking, Accounts Payable, IT, Finance and Admin Managers, Accountants, SSC, BusinessExternal : Contractors, Clients, Tenants, Property Asset Management, Financial Directors, Accountants, Auditors of listed funds. Regulatory bodies e.g. SARS.
