Senior Manager : Credit Risk
Provisioning, Collections & Recoveries
A demanding and challenging opportunity has arisen within the Credit Risk Department of TFG Financial Services for a dynamic, highly motivated individual to provide analytical solutions that will improve decision making throughout the credit life cycle.
The successful individual will be working closely with the Credit Risk, Finance & Operations teams.
Key responsibilities :
Responsible for expected credit loss & partial asset forecasting, informing provision overlays with empirical portfolio evidence.
Managing, initiating and driving initiatives, reporting and forecasting on the recoveries portfolio, including active debt review, allocation / withdrawal and placement strategies with external agencies, debt sales and valuations to potential debt buyers.

Credit owner of IFRS9 provision forecasting, incorporating portfolio strategy, macro-economic expectation etc. into the outlook
Recovery Policy Management & compliance with legislation
Development and deployment of credit strategies, segmentation and forecasting models across the credit life cycle (Collections, Recovery Management)
Providing analytical solutions to complex business problems
Support to operations on managing the Recoveries portfolio e.g. External Debt Collectors’ target setting and expectation management
Documentation of analytical processes and results, adhering to agreed documentation standards
Effective communication and presentation of analytical results and credit-related topics across the business
Data mining of credit bureau and other external data to provide insights and trends
Extraction and preparation of data for internal development projects as well as outsourced solutions
Managing a small team of individuals
Key member of the provisioning technical committee
This role requires diverse stakeholder management
Liaise with key stakeholders in the credit risk and finance teams to communicate consequences of risk strategy changes on IFRS9 provisions
Liaise with operational teams to manage recoveries strategies and initiatives
Liaise and manage external agencies that collect on our recoveries accounts and sell strategy changes and improvements
Liaise with debt buyers when doing valuations for debt sales
To take up this position you should have :
A degree in a numerate discipline, preferably Statistics / Mathematics / Operations Research / Engineering (Honours / Masters degree preferable)
5+ years as senior analyst, forecasting or credit collections / recoveries
Forecasting experience
Advanced Excel experience
Knowledge and experience in statistical / data management software packages (SAS / SQL) Enterprise Miner would be advantageous
Knowledge of the credit industry and credit life cycle management
Experience with data mining and statistical techniques such as logistic regression, decision trees, cluster analysis etc
Excellent data interpretation skills
Good strategic and conceptual abilities
Advanced problem solving, judgment and self management skills
Working as a Credit Manager & Analytical Specialist, you will have strong communications skills, be commercially aware and be a good team player.
You will also need to be numerate with a strong commitment to the improvement of the credit risk strategy.
Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
