Sourcing a Proposals Engineer with 5 years’ DCS / PLC industry-related experience. Assist and guide all customers by generating technically acceptable tenders and proposals.

Position details : Type : Permanent Reports to : Proposals Manager. Primary purpose : Assist and guide all customers by generating technically acceptable tenders and proposals.

Expeditious processing of RFQ’s as per customer requirement. Key performance areas (duties & responsibilities) : Liaise with internal and external customers to develop technically acceptable tenders and proposals.

Capturing of tenders opportunities onto CRM system in order to generate a tender reference number, update CRM with won and lost orders with justifications (where order is lost).

Utilising instrument sizing and selection programmes to determine specific product solutions as per customers’ requirements.

Determine proposal feasibility by checking customer RFQs. Compile complete Technical Bill of materials for the DCS / PLC tender / quotations.

Create System architecture solution for all Tenders. Develop value-added propositions and proposal writing. Liaise with the Engineering and Workshop Manager to ensure correct costings are provided for all Tenders based on approved Bill of Materials.

Review and complete Technical and Commercial returnables for all Tenders to ensure compliance as per RFQ. Work with our sales team to professionally represent the company at customers, gather data, and ask the right questions to define a project.

Work with our engineers to develop and quote cost effective solutions. Responsible for engineering appropriate solutions that will be viable to customer needs.

Work directly with customers to understand their processes and develop the best solutions for their requirements. Align and use entire company portfolio of products and services for satisfying customers business goals.

Recognize and understand the customer’s needs, make suggestions for possible solutions, and quickly develop budgetary numbers.

Accuracy is essential. Cost analysis and estimating. Where relevant source quotations from local and overseas product and service suppliers.

Generate pricing schedule aligned to the requirements of the RFQ. Pricing to be compiled as per updated price lists. Timeously email or drop off tenders to customers where requested.

Generate order acknowledgement and response to customer orders placed. Assist Order processing with purchase order specific technical queries.

Assist customers with order specific queries. Responsible for submitting professional technically prepared quotes and tenders to customers and meeting the required tender submission date / time.

Communicate and generate necessary reports and event logging with regards to tenders. Execute customer and site visits when required.

Actively engage with suppliers to get product support issues quickly and effectively resolved. Provide product support by assisting with technical queries and providing training where required with colleagues.
