The Person :

  • Bachelor''s Degree in Procurement (B.Com or B.Sc); Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Procurement, Category and Supply Chain.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and negotiate contracts.
  • Highly confident with the use of databases, Excel and Project Management Tools.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Analytical Tools and Continuous Improvement process.
  • The Job :

  • Generate cost savings through the development and execution of category strategies.
  • Manage the procurement category process from commencement stage to finalising the contract for the following areas :
  • Electrical consumables;
  • Instrumentation consumables;
  • Electrical Engineering Services;
  • Instrumentation Engineering Services; and
  • Mechanical Engineering Services.
  • Assist in management of on-going supplier relationships and develop criteria & processes to monitor supplier compliance and performance.
  • Support internal customer projects for sourcing and purchasing needs.
  • Support and drive cross-functional efforts to achieve standardisation; adapt new supplier technologies; reduce purchased costs.
  • Negotiate contracts and approve prices, delivery and payment terms.
  • Establish supplier performance metrics that meet standards and supply objectives.
  • Ensure category is procedurally compliant.
  • Drive utilisation of e-Procurement tools.
  • Understand and monitor market trends and new innovation solutions.
  • Establish supplier performance management and development (including BEE development) mechanisms and systems.
  • Develop key performance indicators.
  • Competencies :

  • Experience in and understanding of the Engineering space essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the business to enable the support of business strategies and goals.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities to extract insights from gathered data.
  • Ability to effectively plan work and manage time efficiently.
  • Flexibility to adapt to developing situations.
  • Self-starter & finisher; ability to take initiative and drive change.
  • Strong and effective communication and influencing styles, able to achieve win-win solution.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proven ability to run effective presentations.
  • Innovative, intuitive with ability to anticipate and interpret complex issues impacting on functional area.
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers and into all areas of the Groups operations, both within and outside South Africa.
  • Relocation costs will be considered.
