We have areally excitingon-site opportunity for asuper-talentedDesign Director to lead the creative team at a fabulous strategic brand agency in Johannesburg.

The role works in the Branding space (not Advertising) and calls for a multifaceted individual who is able to direct and be hands on as youll be required to design as well.

The Design Directorwill be the managerresponsible for the agencys Design team. as creative leadyou will drive the conceptual development and delivery of Brand design solutions for all agency clients.

Therole includes having tomanage and mentor the members of the design team.The DesignDirector will also be required to liaise withexternal resourcessuch asfreelancecreatives and otherspecialists.

As the creative lead you willdevelop and implement the strategic brand platforms of clients and brands, being constantly immersed in the strategic and commercial implications of all creative recommendations made.

The successful candidatewill have excellentwritten and verbal communication skillsas well as possess anexcellent commercial understanding and awareness.

As the creative lead youwill facilitate a constructive working relationship between design, client service and production.

You should alsopossess an advanced level of understanding of design disciplines and processes, production processes and parameters.

TheDesign Director you will represent the agency on engagements to clients, management, and industry, in interviews, presentations, events and informally in industry-related social circles.

Responsibilities Conceptualise and design graphic & brand collateral at a high level deliver world-class creative solutionsApproach all projects with verve and passion, motivating the team to deliver high quality resultsDevelopment and implementation of brand design strategy with the support of a specialist strategistLease with client service in timing and cost estimates for design projectsWork closely with the client service team to ensure the creative brief is robust, well considered, and able to provide the design team a clear and inspirational direction for workSupport the client service team in satisfying client requirements and in selling work, especially where client requests are challengedAllocate appropriate timings and resource for projects, assign tasks, and manage project timelines and deliverablesMotivate, direct and foster growth and skill development of design team membersBuild the agencys freelancers network with reliable, creative designers, and specialist resourcesBe readily available for physical meetings, brainstorms, approvals, or inspectionsProvide clear and objective critiques of creative workFacilitate and conclude brainstormsRepresent and promote the agency favourably in industry and client circles.

RequirementsThe successful candidate must have / be : Relevant qualification in Design orVisual Communications qualification from a reputable institution10 years experience in a Design or agency environmentStrategically creative and proficient in creating, interpreting, and applying world class design methodologiesDisplays a passion and enthusiasm for the industry and craftComfortable and accomplished in working with high profile brands and achieving results within tight brand guidelines and project parametersWell versed at planning and managing the execution of full design programs, including comprehensive and detailed brand guidelines and specificationsHighly developed aesthetic sensitivity and attention to detail, with excellent problem-solving abilityOpen to new ideas, flexible and resourcefulProactive, self-motivated, and self sufficientAbility to multi-task, prioritise and perform well under pressureAbility to articulate clear and logical creative rationalesAbility to identify ideas with potential from first reviewStrong organisational and time management skillsExcellent communication, mentoring, motivation, conflict resolution and leadership skillsHighly developed presentation skillsCompetence in Microsoft OfficeStrong knowledge of Adobe Creative SuiteAdvanced understanding of professional printing processes, photography, illustration, and typography, with a strong ability to direct and quality check their processes.
