CORE PURPOSE OF JOB- To facilitate the teaching and learning process for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Afrikaans, to engage in scholarly activities including accredited publications, research and conference presentations, and to contribute to discipline related engagement and advancement.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS- Facilitate acquisition of Afrikaans (for speakers of other languages) with a focus of teaching acquisition in professional disciplines (e.
g. law, health sciences, education)- Conduct and publish research in the field of Afrikaans- Have the potential to supervise at postgraduate level (Honours and / or MA, PhD)- Perform administrative duties and share the coordination of modules and programmes- Play a facilitating role in discipline related engagement endeavours- Participate in curriculum development and enhancementCORE COMPETENCIES- Experience in undergraduate teaching, and preferably some experience in postgraduate teaching and supervision- Sound knowledge of the discipline of Afrikaans- Strong potential for research productivity in the discipline- Establish new research opportunities in Afrikaans across faculties and disciplines- Play a facilitating role in engagement endeavours related to the discipline- Participation in Departmental and / or School activities- Performance of administrationREQUIREMENTSAssociate Lecturer : - Currently registered for a masters degree in Afrikaans, preferably in the field of Afrikaans Language Acquisition- Evidence of fluency in oral and written Afrikaans- Strong potential for research article output- Evidence of engagement endeavours / envisaged projectsLecturer : - A completed masters or doctoral degree in Afrikaans, preferably in the field of Afrikaans Language Acquisition- Experience in undergraduate teaching, and preferably some experience in postgraduate teaching and supervision- Strong potential for research article output and publication of at least two articles in an accredited journal- Evidence of fluency in oral and written Afrikaans- Evidence of engagement endeavours / envisaged projectsDisclaimer : No applicant would be allowed to apply and / or would be accepted after the closing date (20 May ).
