To create a localised capability of response and deliver improved financial performance, overall value generation objectives and customer service for the Commercial Banking Suite.
Responsible for growth, sustainability and profitability of the Commercial Banking Suite income statement and balance sheet.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities Finance
Implements and drives appropriate Commercial Banking Suite strategies and tactics to ensure that income statement and balance sheet objectives are achieved as guided by the Commercial Banking strategy.
Assumes ownership of the Suite’s overall portfolio health and portfolio economics.
Manages ideal portfolio mix (assets vs. liability mix, margin mix, risk mix, etc.) in view of organisational intent, competitor landscape and underlying economic environment.
Drives value maximisation of existing clients by understanding their needs and delivering holistic financial solutions.
Ensures an effective identification and acquisition of targeted new business opportunities.
Drives the overall quality of Suite credit applications in line with credit requirements to ensure successful approval. Customer
Delivers a capability of response at Suite level to meet customer demand by using empirical customer data.
Implements an effective customer engagement model, including the establishment of well-functioning client service teams.
Responsible for client level pricing trade-offs within the devolved mandate.
Together with Marketing co-creates solutions to focus on customers which are locally relevant and in line with the overall Commercial Banking strategy.
Formulates strategies to deliver holistic Commercial Banking solutions for customers. People
Adopts the ecosystems initiatives and the creation of empowered teams in the Suite.
Empowers employees to fulfill the Suite’s objectives regarding customer experience, people management and engagement.
Integrates corporate functions as part of the Suite.
Empowers employees through coaching and development of the front line (e.g., Relationship Managers) in order to meet customer demand and deliver a capability of response at a local level.
Leverages and optimises people, resources, channels, business and risk controls in line with market potential, to maximise business growth, retention and profitability targets at a Suite level.
Drives a unique culture in the Suite aligned to people practices.
Stays visible and relevant within the local business environment and community (brand ambassadorship). Process
Manages cost and operational effectiveness and efficiencies for the Suite by identifying and acting on system conditions and eliminating waste.
Drives the adoption of tools and applications developed for Relationship Managers.
Drives the implementation and roll-in of strategic business transformation programmes. Risk
Assumes ownership of managing portfolio risk within risk appetite standards and co-ownership in managing distress recovery processes in the Suite (e.
g. Watch list, BSNR Collections Process, etc.)
Responsible for all risk and compliance management for the Suite. Measures
Achievement of ROE, economic profits and headline earnings for the Suite
Market share growth
Meeting customer demand (leading and lagging measures)
Adherence to risk and compliance requirements
Achievement of business transformation targets Preferred Qualification and Experience Qualification Degree - Business Commerce Degree - Finance and Accounting Equivalent NQF level qualification Experience 7 - 10 years Appropriate experience within a banking environment.
Experience in or understanding of the requirements to own and manage an income statement and balance sheet. Proven ability to effectively manage teams of professionals.
