Position Description :
Analytics Specialist : IFRS 9 Credit Modelling
A demanding and challenging opportunity has arisen within the Credit Analytics Department of TFG for a dynamic, highly motivated individual to provide credit scorecards that will improve decision making throughout the credit life cycle.
Coach and Mentor junior staff
Project lead and project manager for credit scoring projects
Liaising and work closely with stakeholders to identify business needs, scope projects, and deliver on agreed project outcomes
Development, implementation and monitoring of all provisioning models under IFRS 9
The development and maintenance of predictive models / credit scorecards to improve decision making throughout the credit life cycle of the TFG account base, from acquisition to new account decisioning to existing customer management, fraud, collections and recoveries
Oversee and guide junior staff in data mining of credit bureau and other external data
The development of variable / characteristics from external data to improve credit management decisions and accuracy of predictive models
Ensuring appropriate statistical methodology and data mining / analytical techniques are applied to modeling process to deliver and deploy robust and effective models
Oversee and guide junior staff and ensure quality control of extraction and preparation of data for internal development projects as well as outsourced solutions
Model tracking to ensure effective model life cycle management and recommendations for redevelopment
Effective communication and presentation of analytical results to different stakeholders (internal / external)
Conducting peer-on-peer quality assurance to ensure consistency in delivery
Documentation of analytical processes and results, adhering to agreed documentation standards
To take up this challenging position you should have :
A degree in a numerate discipline, preferably Statistics / Mathematics / Operations Research (honours / master’s degree preferable)
Knowledge and experience in predictive modeling software packages (SAS / SPSS / R / Python)
Experience in predictive modeling or scorecard development under IAS 39 / IFRS 9
Knowledge of the credit industry and credit life cycle management
Hands-on experience of large-scale customer database data interrogation and manipulation
Experience with data mining and statistical techniques such as logistic regression, decision trees, cluster analysis, etc.
Excellent data interpretation skills
Good strategic and conceptual abilities
Advanced problem solving, judgment and self-management skills
Working as an Analytical Specialist you will have strong communication skills, be commercially aware and be a good team player.
You will also need to be numerate with a strong commitment to the improvement of the credit risk strategy.
Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
