Financial Accountant Telecommunications Sector required for dynamic organisation to provide support to the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks for multiple entities, preparing financial statements and reporting.

Purpose of the position

The purpose of this position is to provide provide support to the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks.

You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.

Preparing financial statements and reporting. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.

The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial condition.

This way it can make the right decisions and accomplish long term success.

  • Responsible for full general ledger from transaction to trial balance, including : Review of debtors, creditors and stock ledgersFixed asset register maintenanceBank account reconciliationProvision calculations and adjustmentsBalance sheet reconciliation
  • Data analytics
  • Implement and enhance effective controls in the organisation
  • High level of involvement with the operations team
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including shareholders, banking partners, suppliers, customers, operations and sales team members
  • Preparation of various monthly and ad hoc reports
  • Qualifications and Education requirements

  • Must have a Bcom Accounting Degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Accountant
  • Must have experience working on an ERP package (SAP Business 1 preferable)
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Stable work record
  • Preferred Skills and Work Experience

  • Proven experience as an accountant.
  • Excellent organizing abilities.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen.
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g. SAP)
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Aptitude & Disposition

  • Must have a high attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work comfortably in a team environment.
  • Must also possess exceptionally good communication skills, both in written and verbal form. Communication skills are important for this position in its highly collaborative capacity, where the accountant will interact with other team members, management, internal departmental heads, external partners as well as external auditors.
  • The candidate must be highly flexible and adaptable, be open and welcoming to change.
  • Must have an ability to manage multiple tasks and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Have strong planning and organization skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
