Interpret day-to-day business objectives and preparation / execution of operational practices / work programs. Manage payroll staff and prepare work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
Facilitate weekly / monthly (as required) team meetings. Assist in monitoring workload, evaluations / development plan of others.
Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business needs. Participate in interview process for new hires into Payroll roles.
Train team members on new or enhanced operation procedures and policies. Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes.
Cover for team members in back-up role for vacation and / or high-volume work efforts. Implement quality control measures.
Develop best practices to improve efficiency of payroll processes. Ensure that payroll is processed timeously and accurately.
Assist in payroll calculations, deductions, insurance coverage, wage garnishments etc. Maintain employee payroll records up-to-date and accurate.
Prepare employee wage summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, retirement savings and benefits. Provide support in tax calculation and filing for employees.
Address payroll related queries and requests from employees. Review and recommend improvements to existing payroll procedures.
Analyse payroll problems and provide appropriate resolutions. Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to carry out payroll processing.
Assist in audit operations and implement audit recommendations. Ensure that all industry standards accounting laws are followed Responsible for testing Sage system upgrade or tax to ensure adherence to internal policies and payroll principles.
Prepare wages journals and reconciliations. Inclusive of 3rd party reconciliations. Review daily transactions processed in VIP by Wages Administrators Generate and review audit reports as per VIP before payroll payment is processed.
Review audit trail as per VIP on a weekly basis. Review accuracy of payroll before payroll payment processed Coordinate with Operations, HR and Finance teams to carry out payroll processing.
Prepare monthly management reports Provide assistance to payroll staffs and conduct performance evaluations. Prepare monthly payroll reports.
Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience.Experience with Sage 300 payroll systems.Experience in a shared service environment and solid understanding of HR / Payroll cycles.
Ability to effectively supervise team members and work as a member of that team and organize work activities for other members of that team Problem solving skills.
